Happy to be able to present on pollution law and litigation in ASEAN and share my experience on the importance of the draft ASEAN declaration on environmental rights being considered by AICHR in 2025.
📌 Today, the International Commission of Jurists in collaboration with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute and with support from Sida, UK government, and UN Environment Programme, is convening the 2nd Regional Judicial Dialogue on Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience in the ASEAN region from 17-18 February 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia 🌿🌏 This dialogue brings together judges and key stakeholders from across Southeast Asia to exchange insights and identify best practices on procedural rules and the judiciary's role in advancing environmental justice. The two-day event builds on the success of the 1st Regional Judicial Dialogue in Bangkok, Thailand, in September 2024, and aims to support the development of a Guidebook on Environmental Case Procedures. 🔗 Find out about the 1st Regional Judicial Dialogue here: https://lnkd.in/epfvPrNa #Environment #EnvironmentalJustice #ClimateResilience #ASEAN

"The ICJ’s 15 judges from around the world must now consider two questions: what are countries obliged to do under international law to protect the climate and environment from human-caused greenhouse gas emissions? And what are the legal consequences for governments when their acts, or lack of action, have significantly harmed the climate and environment?"
