An investment opportunity into innovative climate finance.
À propos
Tropical forests are vitally important eco-systems, with ecological, economic and sociocultural benefits. They harbour biodiversity, provide a regenerating stream of resources and absorb high amounts of carbon. Over the past decades, around 30% of global forest cover has been completely cleared and an additional 20% has been degraded to make space for agriculture and other human activities. Consequently, large areas of forest remain degraded and marked by human intervention. A mosaic of secondary and degraded forests (SDF) emerges between agricultural lands and primary forests. Investing for Development SICAV launched the Forestry and Climate Change Fund (FCCF), a Fund aiming to demonstrate that sustainable forestry generates high environmental, economic and developmental value. This impact investment fund seeks to pioneer a viable business model for timber production within secondary & degraded forests. At the core of the FCCF lie long term partnerships with a climate change mitigation objective. With this, the FCCF hopes to give secondary and degraded forests economic value, to better match its ecological and social importance. This profile contains information about the Forestry and Climate Change Fund (FCCF). This is not the FCCF Prospectus. An investment in the FCCF can only be made on the basis of the Prospectus approved by the CSSF.

🌳🌱 Embracing Sustainability: Empowering Local Communities through Forest Management in Central America 🌱🌳 Hello LinkedIn community! Today, we want to shed light on the critical topic of sustainable management of secondary and degraded forests in Central America and its profound impact on local communities. 🌍💚 Central America is blessed with rich biodiversity and vast forested areas. However, due to various factors such as deforestation, agricultural expansion, and climate change, many forests have become secondary or degraded. It is crucial that we recognise the immense value these forests hold and work towards their sustainable management. 🌿🌎 Here are three key reasons why sustainable forest management is vital for the well-being of local communities in Central America: 1️⃣ Economic Opportunities: Sustainable forest management offers local communities a means of livelihood. By practicing responsible approaches like selective logging and agroforestry, communities can generate income through the sustainable utilisation of forest resources. This not only supports their economic well-being but also fosters long-term financial stability. 💼💰 2️⃣ Environmental Conservation: Secondary and degraded forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. Through sustainable management, these forests can be restored, allowing them to regain their ecological functions. This includes carbon sequestration, water regulation, and habitat restoration, which are vital for maintaining a healthy environment and safeguarding the region's unique flora and fauna. 🌿🦜 3️⃣ Community Resilience: Sustainable forest management enhances the resilience of local communities to environmental and socio-economic challenges. By diversifying income sources through sustainable forest-based activities, communities become less reliant on a single industry, reducing vulnerability to economic shocks. Additionally, sustainable forest management practices promote community engagement, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency. 🤝🌱 It is crucial that we prioritise the sustainable management of secondary and degraded forests in Central America. By doing so, we can create a future where local communities thrive, biodiversity flourishes, and the environment is protected for generations to come.. 🌳💚 FCCF and forests: https://lnkd.in/ecCGpUHm #Sustainability #ForestManagement #CentralAmerica #CommunityEmpowerment #Biodiversity #Climate
