Grand Opening Tonight! Step into a world of playful chaos with ‘Songs for Gay Dogs’, the latest monographic exhibition by German artist Cosima von Bonin. Bursting with familiar faces from cartoons, the deep sea and comic strips, this quirky and thought-provoking show features Daffy Duck, Bambi and an eclectic cast of animals like sharks, pigs, rabbits and whales. Cosima von Bonin offers a brilliant satire on pop culture and mass consumption, delivering a sharp, humorous critique of power, luxury and society’s obsession with consumerism. Blurring the lines between art and entertainment, her scenes are filled with vibrant, autonomous characters that challenge our daily rituals and ideologies, all set to immersive soundscapes by Moritz von Oswald. Join us tonight, 10.10 at 19:00 enjoy a mesmerising drag performance featuring @marymesshausen and more! Plus, free drinks until 21:00. ‘I would rather be a cyborg than a goddess,’ wrote Donna Haraway in her groundbreaking essay ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’ (1985). Haraway reimagined the cyborg as a powerful symbol – an identity beyond the confines of gender, challenging the rigid dualisms that have shaped our understanding of bodies and technology. This hybrid of machine and organism continues to inspire generations of artists, including pioneering figures like VALIE EXPORT. In her 1989 digital self-portraits ‘Stand Up. Sit Down’ and ‘Selbstportrait mit Stiege und Hochhaus’, EXPORT overlays elements of urban architecture onto her face, symbolising the pressures of technological advancement and the fragmentation of identity in a post-Fordist society. Delve into VALIE EXPORT’s work in our exhibition ‘Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing 1960–1991’, a deep dive into the rich history of digital art from a feminist perspective. Discover how women artists challenged and shaped the computational world. Valie Export, ‘Stand Up. Sit Down’ + ‘Selbstportrait mit Stiege und Hochhaus’, 1989 (details). Courtesy of the artist. Who let the dog out? Cosima von Bonin's very own furry friend is taking a stroll through her fascinating new installation at Mudam Luxembourg! For her upcoming exhibition, von Bonin has transformed everyday objects into playful, oversized pieces that completely change how we experience Mudam’s iconic spaces. Two giant tables serve as a stage for whimsical characters that embody both childlike wonder and adult complexity – like this pair of whales, with long eyelashes and half-open eyes, looking utterly bored and blasé, as if they’ve seen it all before. Explore Mudam's newest sea world and more at the opening of Cosima von Bonin’s ‘Songs for Gay Dogs’ on Thursday, 10.10! 19:00 – Opening speech by Bettina Steinbrügge, Director of Mudam 19:30 – Performance ‘Thonk Piece: 80% Twins’ featuring Toronto-based drag queens Mary Messhausen, proddy produzentin & Buzz And yes, free drinks until 21:00! See you there – and maybe even our four-legged art lover too! @slothlobster @cosima_von_bonin @marymesshausen @moritzvonoswald @clementineproby @ifa.de #mudam #luxembourg #cosimavonbonin #contemporaryart #exhibitionopening

In the early days of computer art, monochrome abstraction ruled the scene. But with the rise of personal computing, artists like Gretchen Bender (1951, Delaware – 2004, New York) brought a new wave of playful and figurative digital creations. Bender's work uses ‘media against itself – to have it entertaining and critical simultaneously.’ In the 1980s, she crafted dynamic video installations using elements from television, film and corporate aesthetics, merging them with computer graphics. Her iconic piece ‘Wild Dead’ on display at Mudam, fuses logos with digital imagery, flowing with the rapid pace of remote-controlled television – thus reflecting the chaotic and consuming nature of media. You can explore her game-changing creations at Mudam’s latest exhibition! ‘Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing 1960–1991’ celebrates the pioneering contributions of 50 incredible women in digital art. Come visit us and experience over 100 breathtaking works that shaped the digital art world. Gretchen Bender, ‘Wild Dead’, 1984 (film still).
