🌍 Building Inclusive Urban Resilience with RETIME 🏙️✨ WEO🌍 is proud to be a key technology contributor to RETIME, a Horizon Europe project dedicated to creating resilient, informed, and prepared urban environments by developing natural hazard maps, providing a foundation for downstream climate adaptation actions. 🚀  Natural and human-induced disasters—storms, flash floods, wildfires, and extreme temperatures—are placing growing pressure on cities. Climate change, rapid urbanization, and long-term planning challenges only amplify these risks. 🌍 Advancing Flood Mapping with AI & Satellite Data 🛰️🌊  Exciting news from WEO! Our Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow Nicla M. Notarangelo has just published STURM-Flood, a curated, open-access, FAIR dataset designed to advance AI-driven flood extent mapping on Big Earth Data   🌊 Flooding is one of the most frequent and damaging natural disasters. 🇧🇹 Exploring Opportunities with Bhutan: AI & Space Data for Sustainability 🌍✨ Yesterday, Frankwin van Winsen had the honor of presenting WEO🌍’s work to the official Bhutanese delegation, including their Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, an inspiring dialogue with a nation that has made sustainability its national identity. Bhutan, the world’s first carbon-negative country, is a global leader in forest and biodiversity conservation, with nearly 70% of its land covered in forests. 🌱🌿   At WEO🌍, we see a natural synergy between Bhutan’s environmental leadership and our expertise in AI-powered satellite analytics. Our solutions can already support Bhutan’s ongoing efforts in: 🌲 Monitoring forest cover commitments – Providing accurate, continuous tracking to support Bhutan’s pledge of maintaining forest cover. 🔥 Forest fire management – Identifying high-risk areas to help mitigate wildfire threats and protect ecosystems.
