This means that together, we’re reducing waste and actively offsetting CO2. Small actions lead to big change - let’s make the planet greener, one purchase and one tree at a time. Take a look at our profile on tree-nation: https://lnkd.in/dvsQ74ew Thank you for being part of this sustainable journey!

  • The harsh reality behind luxury fashion's waste: Burberry burned $37M in unsold goods in 2018 alone, contributing to fashion's status as the third most polluting industry. This industry-wide practice of destroying goods to maintain exclusivity is now facing regulatory changes in the EU. The time for change is now! 🌍 ♻️ #SustainableFashion #WasteNot

Burberry burned $37,000,000 of clothes in one year. Not because they couldn't sell them. Because they didn't want you to have them! The disturbing truth about fashion's dirty secret: In 2018, Burberry burned $37M worth of perfectly good products. But that was just the start... Since then, Burberry destroyed $ 118M of unsold merchandise! Never worn coats - burned Perfectly fine scarves - trashed Brand new perfumes - destroyed But this isn't just about 1 company. All the major luxury brands destroy perfectly fine stuff, all the time. That's because big brands don't sell scarcity. They manufacture it! a) with the tax loopholes - because destruction gets you a tax cut. b) by preventing the "grey" market from unauthorized resales. c) by creating the "exclusivity illusion". - Because if everyone could afford luxury goods, they wouldn't be luxury anymore. The real cost? 1 cotton t-shirt uses 2,700L of water. Fashion is now the 3rd most polluting industry, responsible for 10% of global CO2. But times are changing. Consumers are getting sick and tired of this. And big brands are adjusting to the new reality. Destruction of unsold goods in the EU? Soon banned. A world without waste? Billion $ opportunity. A business on a dead planet? Impossible. Agree? 👉 Hit follow to learn more. ♻ Repost if this pisses you off PS.: creds to Hosun Chung
