NDPC implements its strategy through project activities with 60+ project partners from all over Europe. The secretariat is based in Riga, Latvia. Dialogue and sharing of inspiration and knowledge is the key – thus we aim to connect across borders, institutions, and sectors. What we do: 🟠 We contribute to knowledge-based policy-making and the discourse about the role of CCS in sustainable development. 🟠 We proactively initiate, develop, and disseminate new collaboration formats between the CCS and other sectors of society to promote the potential of cross-innovative practices. 🟠 We facilitate forward dialogues between CCI practitioners, experts, and policymakers. 🟠 We serve as a knowledge broker, producing new knowledge and making it more accessible. 🟠 We support networks and contribute to the connectivity between our stakeholders across the region.

THANK YOU 🧡 As the year draws to a close, we celebrate the power of creativity to connect, inspire, and shape our shared future. Like the delicate craft of porcelain, culture reminds us of the care, patience, and imagination needed to build something timeless and beautiful. Here the NDPC team - dace resele, Krista Petäjäjärvi, Māra Skuja, Kristīne Lipiņa, Giulia Gotti, and Liene Abaronina - are having a porcelain workshop to explore the arts and wellbeing in practice. 🫖 🍶 In this festive season we want to send a warm thank you to everyone in our networks for the fruitful collaborations and wish you a bright and imaginative 2025! ✨ Happy Holidays and a Joyful New Year! 🎉

NEW CIRCULAR PILOTS DEVELOPING 🌿 Last week, our colleagues Kristīne Lipiņa and dace resele were here ♻️ It was a packed few days! 👉 Learn more about the event: https://lnkd.in/dDUC7eiU
💡 CCC partners from across the Baltic Sea Region have met for the last time in 2024 in Estonia for the Strategy Lab hosted by the Tallinna Ettevõtlusinkubaator / Tallinn Business Incubator, and co-organised by Zero Waste Kiel e.V. and the Danish Cultural Institute. The event took place from December 3 to 5. During the lab, the project partners from Aarhus, Gdynia, Kiel, Riga, Tallinn and Turku were given tools and new sources of inspiration to develop their pilot projects for engaging their cities in a circular economy with creative industry input. The first day included talks on social entrepreneurship in Estonia, various initiatives at the municipal, activist and entrepreneurial level to tackle waste issues, as well as an introduction to collective governance structures. Heading into the second day, activist and placemaker Jaakko Blomberg joined the Lab to give examples on how to involve creative people in city projects by creating opportunities and providing autonomy. Jaakko Blomberg is one of the minds behind spaces in Helsinki such as Free City of Kalasatama, Pasila Street Art District and events such as Kallio Block Party, Cleaning Day and Helsinki Sauna Day. The Lab also benefited from the skilled facilitator and service designer Krzysztof Ożóg, who helped the partners to tackle complex problems through playful and thought-provoking workshops. In the end, the partners presented their visions for pilot projects ranging from a creative circular carnival to circular conferences, new business models and incubation programmes involving people at all levels, from students to small businesses and creative industries. The Tallinn Strategy Lab also included excursions to local initiatives that are supporting the transition to a circular economy: Lilleküla Circular Economy Center which hosts repair workshops and processes more than 40 types of waste, VIVITA, Inc. Solutions Laboratory where children can develop creative skills and make creations from waste material, and Tallinn Design House which features various circular design product lines. ♻️ “Creative Circular Cities” is co-funded by the EU’s Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme to promote circular transition at local level by involving the culture & creative sectors and industries. CCC initiates a transnational co-creation process, in which 6 demo cities – Aarhus (DK), Kiel (DE), Gdynia (PL), Riga (LV), Tallinn (EE), and Turku (FI) – will jointly develop and test CCSI-driven approaches for an integrated circular transition. 📸: Margaret Aidla #placemaking #circularity #citizenengagement #madewithinterreg

ART AND ENERGY WASTE 💚 How can art, culture, and creative actors engage citizens in finding new solutions to reduce energy consumption? 📻 Check out Duncan Geere's work: it is currently broadcasting live! On Standby is a piece of sound art designed to be listened to while sleeping. Supported by the CCI4change project, it connects energy use with sonification art. "When we sleep, our electronic devices lie awake. Unlike humans and other animals, where periods of activity need to be interspersed with periods of rest and switching off, the interconnected web of electronic devices that we share our homes with continues to hum and buzz with energy, all through the night. Now, you’re about to hear what that sounds like." Discover all the pilots: https://lnkd.in/gBC6rk9E -- The total budget of the CCI4change project is 470,000 EUR, of which 80%, or 380 000 EUR, is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme and the remaining 20% by the project partners.
On Friday, we premiered our new data-driven composition - On Standby. This week, we're running three streams in different timezones across the world so that everyone can tune in! On Standby is a 10-hour combination of music, radio documentary, and sound art, designed to be listened to while sleeping. It follows seven volunteers who recorded the overnight energy use of different devices in their homes. As the night progresses, you'll hear that energy use represented in sound. You'll also hear interviews with the participants, advice on using less energy from the Centre for Sustainable Energy, and an original poem composed by the amazing Anna Arvidsdotter. Here's a one-minute trailer: https://lnkd.in/dJn8_TzZ If that sound fun, then join us for the stream closest to your timezone! 2024-12-02 @ 10pm Europe time (UTC+1) https://lnkd.in/dmqwxC2k 2024-12-03 @ 10pm Chicago time (UTC-5) https://lnkd.in/dFehZY8e 2024-12-05 @ 10pm Beijing time (UTC+8) https://lnkd.in/d8ZKuwFP Huge thanks to Region Skåne – utveckling & innovation and Interreg Baltic Sea Region for funding this work through the CCI4Change project.
