StartGate hosted an inspiring "Meet a Founder "session with Walid Daou ! As part of its community-building efforts to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among students, idea holders, and founders, on Thursday, 14th November, StartGate welcomed Walid Daou, founder of Cleverlytics, a spin-off from UM6P - University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, portfolio company of UM6P Ventures focused AI solutions.     Walid shared insights from his journey in entrepreneurship and employment, clarifying the difference between spin-offs and startups regarding funding, ownership, and intellectual property. He encouraged researchers to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, acknowledging the challenges of transitioning from research to commercialization and the need to balance academic objectives with business goals in spin-offs.     Walid also highlighted promising opportunities for AI-driven spin-offs in industries like OCP Group and regions such as Morocco, highlighting the importance of strong collaboration between research institutions and industry for success.

StartGate meeting the Italian Innovation ecosystem ! In partnership with the ITA - Italian Trade Agency, TECHNOPARK Maroc (MITC) and MCISE, StartGate and three winning startups from its community participated in SMAU Milan, one of Europe’s leading innovation events. This event serves as a dynamic platform that brings together startups, entrepreneurs, corporations, and investors.  This participation provided StartGate and its startups with a valuable opportunity to build connections within the Italian innovation ecosystem and meet with the Moroccan diaspora in Italy. Additionally, the group visited Bergamo, a region recognized for its rapid growth in innovation and entrepreneurship, further enhancing their understanding of European market trends. 

🇲🇦 🇲🇫 Emmanuel Macron x Sand to Green 🤜🏻 🤛🏽 🌍 We had the immense honor of presenting Sand to Green to President Emmanuel Macron during his official visit to Morocco! 🌳🌱🌳 Our cofonder Wissal Ben Moussa had the opportunity to showcase Sand to Green’s vision and efforts in addressing food security and promoting sustainable agriculture through innovative agroforestry in arid environments. بمناسبة حلول الذكرى التاسعة والأربعين للمسيرة الخضراء، تحتفل جامعة محمد السادس متعددة التخصصات التقنية بهذه المناسبة لرمزيتها التاريخية في مسار استكمال الوحدة الترابية للمملكة المغربية. حيث تجسد قيم المواطنة عند المغاربة، واستعدادهم للتضحية من أجل الوطن. On the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the Green March, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic is commemorating this day. This is because it reminds us of the sacrifice of our ancestors to regain sovereignty on the southern regions of the kingdom of Morocco. By reviving this historical event, we become aware of its importance, which still remains alive in the collective memory of Moroccans.

Wrapping up our last acceleration Batch with Plug and Play Africa!  Last month, we wrapped up the 7th Batch of our acceleration program in collaboration with Plug and Play Africa. The program's fourth focus week, hosted from September 23rd to 25th, provided participating startups with insightful workshops, including sessions on investment readiness and fundraising best practices. We also had the opportunity to welcome notable investors, including representatives from Ventures Platform Fund, Rasmal Ventures, Silicon Badia, Rally Cap VC, Finance in Motion, Algebra Ventures, Kalys Ventures, BMCE Capital , and First Circle Capital. One of the week's standout moments was the Circle of CEOs led by Nabil Amar, CEO of CASHPLUS , who shared his entrepreneurial journey and insights with the participants. To give startups more face time with investors, a private dinner in Marrakech on September 23rd brought together founders, partners, and investors for more networking and one-to-one discussions. As we wrap up this seventh batch, we also conclude an inspiring four-year journey alongside Plug and Play Africa. Together, we’ve accelerated over 100 startups across different verticals, including fintech, edtech, and energy... and fostered innovation in Morocco’s retail sector through the Moroccan Retail Tech Builder. With the invaluable support of the Ministère de l’Industrie et du Commerce - Maroc and the OCP Group Foundation, we have made strides toward a thriving ecosystem. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of these efforts. ✨
