Through personal experiences and collective wisdom, we’ve gathered some valuable tips to guide you through the process. Here they are, in no particular order: 1. Plan early, plan often: Start preparing for your transition well in advance. Utilize your education benefits, build a network, and engage with potential employers to understand the skills they’re looking for. 2. Know your WHY: Clearly define your reason for leaving the service, pursuing a certain degree, or targeting a specific job or company. Your "why" will serve as the foundation for your elevator pitch and help others understand how they can support you. 3. It’s OK to ask for help: Transitioning can be stressful, and it’s okay to seek support.
