"Real world data" is extremely hard to obtain and while collecting it there is a risk the method can influence the outcomes, especially when it's about something you are personally involved. We were lucky to obtain support from Value for Health CoLAB who's researches gave us a tool to objectively explore stakeholder perceptions of traditional adherence methods and Pillbie smart dispenser, aiming to identify motivations, barriers, and benefits to adoption. That's a wrap for the amazing Patient Innovation BootCamp, and we feel fully re-inspired! It's common knowledge that being a start-up owner has its difficulties and sometimes it's hard to stay motivated. We were on the downward motivation curve just before entering this inspiring and knowledge-packed program. So, although we would've stayed a little longer for the wonderful community this boot camp created for us: both organizers and all the other start-ups we were lucky to meet, it's time for us to push the cart onwards and finish the ambitious things we planned for this quartale. 😉 Special thanks to Pedro Oliveira, Maria João Jacinto, Gemma Tria, Mie Maahr Hegelund, and Margarida Oliveira for the organization and EIT Health as well as to Copenhagen Business School, IESE Business School, Nova School of Business and Economics, and NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas for the insightful classes! It's an understatement that we have learned a lot in these 3 weeks, packed with so much valuable information that I'm sure will help us enormously along the way. Still, the most significant takeaway is the amazing people we met during our stays in Lisbon and Copenhagen and the fact that patients innovate best when it comes to their own condition. Their stories inspired us and we hope to keep in touch! More than anything, 2023 has been a year of setbacks. From extremely long delivery times for parts, malfunctioning 3D printers, lost deliveries, to bizarre phone number misspellings on delivery details and suppliers shutting down their business. 😵 Funding also became harder to obtain with all the chaos going around and some seemingly easy to obtain grants slipping out of our hands. All in all more reasons to quit than to go on... 🛑 In spite of it all, with almost no support whatsoever, we have managed to put ourselves together and finalize the new prototype, designed from scratch by our team. We're happy to share it's first coming to life. 🚀 Stay tuned for more of it's first steps.
