General Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 5th Bt. was born circa 1748.2 He was the son of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 4th Bt. and Christian Erskine.3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Maria Ruthven, daughter of James Ruthven, 5th Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Lady Anne Stuart, on 18 July 1763 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1,3 He and Elizabeth Maria Ruthven were divorced on 2 February 1774.1 He married, secondly, Judith Hatley on 25 April 1778 at Ipswich, Suffolk, EnglandG.3 He died on 10 September 1804 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.3 He died intestate and his estate was administered in January 1805.3
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries Burghs between 1774 and 1804.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1779 in the 16th Light Dragoons.3 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Laurie, of Maxwelton, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 28 April 1779.3 He held the office of Knight Marshal of Scotland between 1785 and 1804.3 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1798.3 He gained the rank of General in 1803.3

Janet Ruthven was born on 7 December 1747.1 She was the daughter of James Ruthven, 5th Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Lady Anne Stuart.2 She married Captain Wade Toby Caulfeild, son of William Caulfeild and Catherine Moore, on 1 August 1765.1 She died in June 1785 at age 37, without surviving issue.2
She was also known as Jessie Ruthven.2 From 1 August 1765, her married name became Caulfeild.

Captain Wade Toby Caulfeild was born in 1732.2 He was the son of William Caulfeild and Catherine Moore.2 He married Janet Ruthven, daughter of James Ruthven, 5th Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Lady Anne Stuart, on 1 August 1765.1 He married, secondly, Anne Cope, daughter of Jonathan Cope and Renea Leighton, in 1786.2 He died in August 1800.1

Robert Rollo, 4th Lord Rollo of Duncrub was born on 12 June 1679.2 He was the son of Andrew Rollo, 3rd Lord Rollo of Duncrub and Hon. Margaret Balfour.3 He married Mary Rollo, daughter of Sir Henry Rollo of Woodside, on 4 June 1702.2 He died on 8 March 1758 at age 78.2
