     Sir Robert Stewart of Tarbolton and Cruxton is the son of Walter Stewart, 3rd High Steward of Scotland and Beatrix of Angus.¹

     William Cuninghame, 1st of Lainshaw was born in 1731.² He married Margaret Nicolson Cranstoun, daughter of Hon. George Cranstoun and Maria Brisbane, on 25 February 1780.^1,3 He died in 1799.²
     He lived at Lainshaw, Ayrshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Thomas Stewart, 2nd Earl of Angus was the son of John Stewart, 1st Earl of Angus and Margaret Abernethy.¹ He married Margaret Sinclair, daughter of Sir Henry Sinclair of Roslin and Alice de Fenton, on 3 June 1353, by Papal dispensation.¹ He died in 1361 at Dunbarton Castle^G, from the plague while imprisoned for alleged complicity in the murder of King David II's mistress, Catherine Mortimer.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Angus [S., 1329] on 9 December 1331.¹ He fought in the taking of Berwick in May 1355, where he commanded.¹ He was one of the eight lords, of whom three were to place themselves in the hands of the English as security for the release of King David II.¹ He held the office of Great Chamberlain [Scotland] from 1357 to 1358.¹ On 18 August 1359 he had a safe conduct for four ships of Flanders, but he broke his engagement.¹ In March 1359/60 he was charged to retrun to England to fulfill his obligations as hostage.¹

     Margaret Sinclair was the daughter of Sir Henry Sinclair of Roslin and Alice de Fenton.¹ She married, firstly, Thomas Stewart, 2nd Earl of Angus, son of John Stewart, 1st Earl of Angus and Margaret Abernethy, on 3 June 1353, by Papal dispensation.² She married, secondly, Sir John St. Clair of Herdmanston, son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston, after 1361.²
     She was also known as Margaret St. Clair.² After her marriage, Margaret Sinclair was styled as Countess of Angus on 3 June 1353. From 3 June 1353, her married name became Stewart.

     Sir William Sinclair of Roslin, younger was the son of Sir Henry Sinclair of Roslin and Alice de Fenton.² He died on 25 August 1330, killed with his brother on their way to the East with the heart of King Robert I.¹
     He was also known as Sir William St. Clair of Roslin.³

     Margaret Nicolson Cranstoun was born in 1755.² She was the daughter of Hon. George Cranstoun and Maria Brisbane.^3,4 She married William Cuninghame, 1st of Lainshaw on 25 February 1780.^1,5 She died in 1841.¹
     From 25 February 1780, her married name became Cuninghame.^1,5

     Elizabeth Stewart was the daughter of Thomas Stewart, 2nd Earl of Angus and Margaret Sinclair.¹ She had dispensation to marry Sir Alexander Hamilton, 2nd of Ballencrieff and of Innerwick on 15 September 1381.¹
     From 15 September 1381, her married name became Hamilton.¹

     Hon. George Cranstoun was the son of William Cranstoun, 5th Lord Cranstoun and Lady Jean Kerr.² He married Maria Brisbane, daughter of Thomas Brisbane of Brisbane and Isabella Nicolson.³ He died in 1788.³

     John Stewart, 1st Earl of Angus was the son of Sir Alexander Stewart of Bonkyl.¹ He married Margaret Abernethy, daughter of Alexander Abernethy of that Ilk, on 24 October 1328, by Papal dispensation.¹ He died on 9 December 1331.¹
     He was created 1st Earl of Angus [Scotland] on 15 June 1329.¹ He lived at Bonkyl, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.¹ He was appointed Knight on 24 November 1331.¹

     Margaret Abernethy was the daughter of Alexander Abernethy of that Ilk.² She married John Stewart, 1st Earl of Angus, son of Sir Alexander Stewart of Bonkyl, on 24 October 1328, by Papal dispensation.¹ She died after 1370.¹
     From 24 October 1328, her married name became Stewart. She gained the title of Countess of Angus on 15 June 1329.
