     Jean Makgill is the daughter of James Makgill of Rankeillour and Jean Wemyss.2 She married, firstly, William Gourlay, 12th of Kincraig, son of Thomas Gourlay, 11th of Kincraig and Barbara Paterson.1 She married, secondly, unknown Brown of Finmouth.1
     Her married name became Gourlay.2 Her married name became Brown.1

     John Makgill was the son of Sir James Makgill of Rankeillour and Janet Adamson.2 He married Elizabeth Home, daughter of William Makgill of Ayton.1 He died on 2 July 1607, without issue.1
     He was a practising advocate.1 He was Archpresbyter of Dunbar.1

Samuel Makgill1

     Samuel Makgill is the son of Sir James Makgill of Rankeillour and Janet Adamson.2
     He was probably ancestor in the female line of Sir John Johnston later Makgill, 1st and last Baronet.1 He held the office of Burgess of Glasgow.1 In 1609 he was granted lands in Ulster.1
