     He was educated at Aldenham School, Elstree, Hertfordshire, England.¹ He graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)¹ He gained the rank of Surgical Specialist in the Royal Army Medical Corps, during the First World War.¹ He was Consulting Obstetric Surgeon at Guy's Hospital, London, England.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists (F.R.C.O.G.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.)¹ He was vice-president of the Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists.¹

     Major R. N. Buist gained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps.¹
