Sir Edward Hext was born circa 1550.2 He was the son of George Hext and Mary Parker.2 He married Agnes Hunton, daughter of William Hunton.2 He married, secondly, Dionysia Stonhouse, daughter of George Stonhouse and Elizabeth Gibson.1 He died in February 1624.2

He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was admitted to Gray's Inn.1 He held the office of Gentleman Bedchamber to King Charles I.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Abingdon from 1628 to 1629.1 He was appointed Knight in 1629.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Stonhouse, of Radley, Berkshire [E., 1628] on 5 February 1631/32.1
