     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.¹ He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He held the office of Gentleman Usher to Queen Charlotte in 1777.¹ He held the office of Gentleman Usher of the Privy Chamber in 1783.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards.¹ He was committed to Fleet Prison for debt.¹

     Frances Tracy was born on 11 August 1729 at Stanway, Gloucestershire, England.¹ She was the daughter of John Tracy and Anne Atkins.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. Gustavus Guy Dickens, son of Lt.-Col. Melchior Guy Dickens and Hannah Handcock, on 7 April 1762 at St. Margaret, Westmisnter, London, England.¹
     From 7 April 1762, her married name became Dickens.¹
