     Major Julian Neil Oscar Rycroft was born on 22 February 1892.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir William Henry Rycroft and Grace Ronald Maria Menzies.1,2 He married Elizabeth Mildred Louisa Anstruther, daughter of Sir Ralph William Anstruther of Balcaskie, 6th Bt. and Mildred Harriet Hussey, on 20 October 1920.2 He died on 12 January 1928 at age 35.2
     He gained the rank of Captain and Brevet Major in the Black Watch.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.2 He gained the rank of Brigade Major in 1917.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel of the Black Watch in 1918.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.2

     Her married name became Palmer. She succeeded as the 11th Baroness Lucas of Crudwell, co. Wilts [E., 1663] on 23 November 1958.1 She succeeded as the 7th Lady Dingwall, of co. Ross [S., 1609] on 23 November 1958.1
