Thanks to some cheeky exploits, it’s possible to romance one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s party members in less than 10 minutes.
Even if you’re not aiming to see everything Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer, a single playthrough can still take you at least 75 hours to complete.
While lengthy games like this can be daunting for some, speedrunners only see a new challenge to overcome and dedicate themselves to figuring out how to complete a playthrough as quickly as possible.
Although Baldur’s Gate 3’s speedrunning community is in its infancy, it’s already introduced multiple categories beyond completing a standard playthrough. For instance, there’s a speedrun challenge to see how quickly you can unlock one of the game’s sex scenes.
Officially labelled as a Romance% challenge, the idea was put forward by YouTuber Th3Vale who claims to have achieved this in just under five hours.
Shockingly, this record has already been broken twice and within less than 20 minutes. MagsIsAwkward was the first to achieve this, managing it in 17 minutes and 42 seconds.
More recently, Canadian player mae shaved roughly 10 minutes off that record, coming in at just under eight minutes.
There is a video demonstrating how mae did this, revealing that they made use of party member Gale and the Enhanced Leap spell to skip chunks of the game, which somehow allowed them to bed party member Lae’zel.

This is also how they set the world record for a general Any% speedrun – 10 minutes and three seconds – which only requires you to reach the end of the game and doesn’t forbid the use of exploits or glitches.
Speedrun.com doesn’t list any legitimate speedruns of the game yet (probably because of the amount of time and effort it would require), but mae is also promising a Bear% run that requires you to reach Baldur’s Gate 3’s now iconic bear sex scene.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PC. A PlayStation 5 version launches on September 6. An Xbox Series X/S version is in development.
