Coronation Street star Lisa George has confirmed her brand new role away from the cobbles, and it’s a whole new world away from Beth Tinker.

Beth burst onto the cobbles back in 2011 and has been part of some huge storylines ever since, with her relationship with Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) really touching fans’ hearts.

However, reports emerged late last year that Lisa, 51, was set to leave the long-running series after starring in the soap for 13 years. However, the soap star appears to have dispelled the claims at the beginning of the year.

As the rumours continue to swirl regarding Lisa’s soap exit, she has revealed she has landed another role away from Weatherfield.

Lisa will be taking to the stage at Wyvern Theatre in Swindon as they bring a production of Cinderella to theatre-goers this Christmas.

Confirming her cameo, Lisa shared the pantomime promo on her Instagram, writing: ‘You SHALL go to the ball. I am thrilled to be starring in @wyverntheatre’s magical family pantomime **Cinderella** this festive season.

‘Tickets available now, link in bio… I hope you will all come and join us for some festive family fun this Christmas.’

This comes after the actress feared her acting days were numbered after two separate incidents with her eyes has left her with vision problems.

In 2016 Lisa permanently lost part of the sight in her right eye after a gardening accident, in which a heavy knot at the end of a piece of rope hit her in the face.

But six years later in 2022, Lisa was driving home after celebrating former Corrie co-star Katie McGlynn’s 29th birthday, when her left eye went ‘really weird’.

Lisa has now been diagnosed with a condition called NAION – non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy – which causes sudden vision loss in one eye.

‘I couldn’t tell whether the lorries in front of me were merging into one, it was very frightening,’ she recalled in an interview with MailOnline.

Lisa ended up in A&E and spent a ‘horrendous’ week in hospital, marking one of the ‘worst experiences of [her] life’.
