If you’d have taken one look at my skin from three years ago, you’d have been shocked but, one product from skincare brand Medik8 changed everything.
Formerly plagued with acne, congestion and oil but with skin that still looked drab and grey, I started to play around with vitamin C serums.
They’ve gained huge traction in the last few years for their radiance-giving abilities but I was sceptical. I’d had little success at giving myself a glow with some well-known highstreet brands and decided to reach for the pricier skincare options on the shelf.
Enter Medik8’s C-Tetra Luxe serum. This powerful antioxidant is like a shot of espresso for your skin in the morning, bringing life and energy to your complexion.
Containing 14% tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a potent form of vitamin C and double the amount in the original Medik8 C-Tetra serum, it delivers a whole load of antioxidants to the skin – you know, the thing superfoods like blueberries contain?
What antioxidants do is brighten your complexion but that’s not all. Consultant dermatologist Dr Derrick Phillips explains: ‘Antioxidants help to protect your skin from environmental aggressors like pollution and which is particularly important if you work in a city.’
Where this serum cuts above the rest is its ability to reduce dark patches of pigmentation on the skin. Over time, adult skin tends to develop little splotches of darkness and not wearing SPF only worsens them.
I hate to admit this but I used to avoid sunscreen as old-fashioned formulas tended to give me spots, but doing so also worsened my pigmentation.
Now, after years of wearing the Medik8 C-Tetra Luxe serum daily (and of course, SPF), I can honestly say my pigmentation has faded to the point where it’s not really noticeable.
It was such a simple addition to my skincare routine too. I was expecting to have to go all-guns-blazing on my skin to see any sign of improvement but, all that’s needed is 3-5 drops of the clear serum on clean, dry skin every morning then follow this with the rest of your usual skincare steps.
What I love about it is the texture. It’s not sticky, it’s not oily, it’s not greasy but it does give an extra layer of light hydration. It’s so good in fact, I’ve got my mum to use it and she loves it too!
I have to say that as a beauty lover, if anyone asks me for advice, the first thing I put to them is whether they use a vitamin C serum and if not, why the heck not? It’s such an easy step to add into a routine, takes 3 seconds and wow – does it have impact.
The one thing that might sting a bit is the price. At £59 for 30ml it’s not exactly affordable and there are certainly cheaper alternatives but, for me, this one is worth spending that little bit more.

Medik8 is a brand that continually produces viral products, including their much-loved Crystal Retinal, and they’re a trusted name that dermatologists swear by, Dr Gabriella F. Vasile being one of them: ‘C-Tetra Luxe is my Medik8 Vitamin C of choice for all skin types. Potent but non-irritating, it significantly reduces the look of dark spots and wrinkles in a matter of weeks while supercharging your skin’s radiance.’
This serum has also got a vast amount of 5* reviews. One reviewer said: ‘You only need a small amount of this serum. My skin always feels great afterwards and looks glowing!’
And another read: ‘My holy grail product. Upgraded to C-Tetra Luxe from its more than brilliant sister; C-tetra. Goes on like a dream, no sensitivity at all. My complexion is definitely brighter too.’
But, with all that being said, there’s only one question that remains – will you be adding a vitamin C serum into your skincare routine and if so, will it be the brilliant Medik8 C-Tetra Luxe? I hope so.
