If you go down to M&S today, you might get a bit of a surprise…
That’s because the retailer has launched a bunch of new products in its Food Hall and one in particular is causing a real stir.
It might only be the first week of January, but M&S is already looking ahead to Valentine’s Day and Easter with new seasonal items, including a chocolate gift that shoppers think looks rather ‘naughty’.
The new milk chocolate Love Struck arrow is described as being ‘solid’ and ‘creamy’ and people have been left howling over its interesting shape, which looks much more phallic than an arrow probably should.
Taking to social media, many have been saying the same thing, claiming M&S ‘knew exactly what they were doing’ when they designed this ‘cheeky’ chocolate.
@char.baby on Instagram wrote: ‘The shape of that love struck chocolate. Get out of here, they know what they’re doing!’ While @frankiefunko wasn’t beating around the bush, posting: ‘Love struck is a full on c**k and I’m not having anyone say it isn’t, M&S need to calm the f**k down.’
Over on Facebook in the Food Finds UK Official group, Kevin Chalkley joked: ‘M&S or S&M?’ As Bryon Charlton said: ‘I read that as love stick.’
Several people also thought the chocolate would look more at home in another store, with Tanya Marie asking: ‘Have the Ann summers chocolate designers got jobs at M&S now?’
And lots of people claimed they couldn’t wait to see what Aldi would create in response, as the budget supermarket is known for putting their own spin on popular products from the high street favourite.
As well as the new Love Struck arrow, M&S is also selling a chocolate-shaped banana for Valentine’s Day, called You’re Appealing. The product is made from solid milk chocolate, with butterscotch pieces inside.
The supermarket has also gone viral for its brand new Outrageously Chocolatey Custard Cream Biscuity Easter Egg, which is a giant hollow milk chocolate product shaped like a Custard Cream, with actual biscuit pieces inside the shell.
If this weren’t enough, hot cross buns have returned to the M&S shelves this week as well, with flavours including chocolate, and cheese.
There’s new Pistachio Rolled Eggs as well, which some have hailed the ‘product of the year’ despite it only being the start of 2025. These are milk chocolate eggs filled with a pistachio cream and rolled in chopped pistachio pieces.
This comes after an M&S worker revealed that we can expect to see many more pistachio-flavoured products this year.
More Trending
Stephen Fitzgerald, the head of product development, told Metro: ‘We like to set trends, but you obviously can’t ignore things like hot honey or pistachio, which are everywhere at the moment. We’ve put our own spin on these, elevated them and given them mass appeal.
‘I think the M&S magic is finding that sweet spot between something that’s on trend, which customers might not quite understand, and making it accessible for them, and our chocolate covered pistachios have been a big success.
‘I think there’s definitely more of these flavour profiles, or similar, to come – we’re really only just on the start of that journey.’
