Since 2018, Sweden has supported the works of DKT in Myanmar. The project continues to strengthen healthcare providers' capacities while improving access to affordable contraceptives across the country. This is one of the stories of change that we have been empowering communities through knowledge and choices. Dr. Khin Maung Htay is a dedicated healthcare provider in Yangon. "Before the training, I could only offer limited options like injections. Now, I can provide implants that last up to four years, which gives women more reliable options. This training has build my confidence and allowed me to educate patients about their choices." shared by Dr. Khin Maung Htay. The training has been transformative during challenging times, where access to medicines and resources are limited. Since 2018, Sweden has supported the works of DKT in Myanmar. By ensuring affordable, high-quality contraceptives and training healthcare providers, they are helping to alleviate the socio-economic pressures of unplanned pregnancies in Myanmar's most vulnerable communities. This is one of the stories of change that we have been empowering families through informed family planning choices. "We had no family planning for our first child. Pills and injections need to be taken consistently as they are user-dependent methods. Our healthcare provider explained that implants are 99% effective, and it's a better option." said the couple, Ko Myo Min Oo (factory worker) and his wife, Ma Tin Zar Maw. The free-of-charge contraceptive services are even more critical solutions for the couples in a midst of economic challenges. "Without the support, we couldn't have afforded the implant." she added. Sweden's role in funding this initiative has extended beyond individual families. Ko Myo has become an advocate for family planning in his neighbourhoods. "I share our experience with others and recommend consulting healthcare providers. DKT International is proud to share our 2023 audited financials as part of our commitment to transparency. These reflect DKT's financial health and the fact that we remain an incredibly cost-effective investment for any #donor looking to make a major impact in the area of #reproductive health, including #abortion and #contraception. Lots of details and graphs in the link below. A few 2023 highlights: - DKT 2023 sales revenue topped $235 million against $283 million in overall expenses. - DKT procured around $122 million in #reproductive health commodities, making us one of the largest such procurers in the world. Most of this was procured with our own funds. - We covered 83% of our operational expenses with sales revenues in 2023. This means that a donor dollar leverages DKT's own revenues to maximize impact and that donor funds are used to reach key populations and last mile destinations. - Our headquarters costs was less than 2% of global expenses and our overall fundraising expense was a fraction of that. 🌟 Exciting Advancements in Vietnam's Healthcare Sector! 🌟 We are delighted to announce a significant milestone in Vietnam's healthcare landscape: the successful signing ceremony of the MoU between the Vietnam Family Planning Association (VINAFPA) and DKT Vietnam. This partnership represents a pivotal moment in improving nationwide access to essential #SRH and #FP services. According to the MoU, both parties will focus on collaborating to enhance availability and expand the distribution network of DKT trademarked SRH products, and to train healthcare providers on the use of contraceptive and safe abortion methods, aiming to improve service quality and user experience at 29 clinics within the VINAFPA network. Additionally, the parties will coordinate to organize IEC programs to raise awareness among youth and industrial zone workers. During the ceremony, emotions were high as President Pham Ba Nhat recounted the inception of OK condoms, a flagship product of DKT in Vietnam for over 30 years. He shared stories from the early days when OK condoms were first introduced at the Thong Nhat Park Circus, attended by numerous dignitaries from the healthcare sector. Particularly memorable was the appearance of a large elephant decorated with a red OK logo embroidered on its cloth covering. President Nhat also showed us a gift he has cherished for three decades now: a backpack embroidered with the red OK logo, presented to him during the OK product launch event. Despite a long hiatus in our collaboration, his deep appreciation for DKT work was evident. President Nhat underscored the importance of renewing our partnership through this MoU, expressing gratitude to DKT Vietnam for actively promoting cooperation aimed at providing comprehensive SRH education and services throughout Vietnam. "We eagerly await the outcomes of this renewed collaboration," he remarked. Rodrigo Portugues, DKT Vietnam’s Country Director deeply appreciated President Nhat's sentiments towards DKT and highlighted: “The partnership reaffirms our joint commitment to empowering individuals and communities by equipping them with essential knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about the SRH.” Together, we look forward to realizing the full potential of this partnership and its positive impact on communities throughout Vietnam.
