Implementing security in a human rights compliant way requires practical training. How do you apply human rights when detaining a suspect, controlling a crowd, gathering intelligence, and working with public security providers? It is the hands-on practice of this, not the theory, that we cover in INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. security and human rights training for companies. Developed and delivered by practitioners who have grappled with these issues, our training is provided in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Arabic and Russian. So, what does this training look like? Our Security and Human Rights Training modules, target group and operational level security managers and teams. The training sessions aim to provide participants with a clear understanding of essential international security and human rights standards – with a particular focus on the implementation of the Voluntary Principles. By the end of each training, participants should be confident in applying the 10 steps of the Voluntary Principles Initiative (VPI) to establish and maintain security in compliance with key human rights, as well as independently applying their knowledge to overcome any obstacles to implementation. Have a more in-depth look at what we offer in this training, including flexible options for full and abridged sessions, in this brochure. For training inquiries, reach us through our website or write to the INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. Our Impact Evaluation practice helps our clients learn and adjust their interventions for greater impact. As such, it plays a key role at INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. in how we set the stage for meaningful and positive change in transition, fragile, and conflict-affected regions. As Gudrun Van Pottelbergh, our Impact Evaluation Practice Lead (and a historian by training), often says, the past is a great source of learning for how we do things in the present. Gudrun ensures that all our work is grounded in rigorous research and assessment processes, and that our evidence is always as robust as possible. So, what are the main Impact Evaluation services we offer our public and private sector clients? - Evaluability assessments: Assessing and designing evaluability frameworks for programmes, to ensure effectiveness in assessment. - Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems: Designing and developing M&E systems that are OECD/DAC-aligned, and that include the identification of key indicators and data sources. - Social investment reviews: Assessing the impact of community and social programmes, with a focus on alignment with risk management priorities. - Programme evaluations: Evaluation of public sector humanitarian, development, and peace-building programmes – again, using OECD/DAC criteria. - Training and capacity building: Designing and holding training programmes in M&E and impact assessment to both public and private sector clients. Gudrun's team brings experience that ranges from humanitarian interventions to programme design, and conflict prevention to strategy development. To learn more about our work on impact assessment, visit us at www.incasconsulting.com or reach out to our Impact Evaluation Practice Lead, Gudrun Van Pottelbergh. #impactevaluation #INCAS #impactassessment #monitoringandevaluation #programmeevaluation #socialinvestmentreviews #trainingandcapacitybuilding The image featured in this post was created exclusively for INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. by Emmanuel Tanus. We love evaluating good work. Just recently, we completed a portfolio evaluation of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD)'s Swedish funded projects – and Sida’s funding model for mediation work. Aside from the impressive innovation in and impact of HD’s work, our evaluators found Sida’s flexible funding model to be highly effective to support mediation efforts. This was also a great fit for INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. cross-practice work because of the creativity HD wanted to apply in communicating impact. Based on evaluation findings, we developed stories of impact in the form of written and audio products that brought HD’s achievements to life. Discover more about the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue’s work in global conflict resolution at www.hdcentre.org. Learn about our monitoring and evaluation work at www.incasconsulting.com or by reaching out to our Impact Evaluation Practice Lead, Gudrun Van Pottelbergh. Curious about how we use creative storytelling in different ways for our clients? Africa is seeing an increase in private sector innovation, as INCAS Peace Practice Lead Sofia C. saw when she attended the Choiseul Forum in Marrakech recently. But what are the risks still posed by fragility, which affects countries across the continent? We sat down with Sofia to talk about fragility in Africa, how it could be tackled, the role of the private sector, and INCAS’s potential contribution. Private sector firms have a key contributory role to play to build more stable societies, through direct, deliberate, and planned engagement to reduce fragility. Conservation is one of INCAS - International Conflict and Security Consulting Ltd. key focus areas. As COP29 unfolds in Baku, we continue to work closely with governments and development partners to ensure that human rights are respected in the protection of national parks in different parts of the world. National parks play a crucial role in tackling the climate crisis. Efforts to safeguard biodiversity and halt deforestation in these areas often lead to conflict and violence when communities cannot access resources within Protected Areas. In response to high-profile cases of violent clashes, forced resettlement, and force abuse, several of our clients are driving initiatives to ensure that public and private security providers involved in conservation comply with international security and human rights standards. Just this week, we were in East Africa, working to advance a bold initiative aimed at strengthening compliance with these critical standards. While we may not be present at COP29 in Baku, we are on the ground, working with partners to make tangible progress where it’s needed the most. 🌱 #COP29 #conservation #forestation #climatechange #humanrights #nationalparks
