GLF Member Anthony Voscarides, CEO of wingu.africa group, represented the GLF during today's panel session on power & data centres. Balancing data centre growth and finding reliable power sources is not a new issue in Asia. The previous memorandum in Singapore has long been cited as a flagship policy on a global level that points to the difficulties of balancing the need to build with the need to secure appropriate energy to run effectively. However, as we are also seeing across the globe, power constraints are coming ever more to the top of mind when it comes to new developments and managing existing facilities. Alongside Anthony, the following inspirational speakers featured... Alfred Ng, Partner - Ashurst Shalini Lagrutta, Chief Executive Officer - DXN Limited Patrick Lynch, Executive Managing Director - CBRE Data Center Solutions Jon Curry, Vice President, Operations, APAC - Digital Realty #KeepingTheWorldConnected #ITWAsia #glf

Mainland #Africa's smallest state, #Djibouti, is using the power of state capital and leveraging its geopolitically strategic location to punch above its weight, in an attempt to position itself as the Singapore of the Horn of Africa. The tiny state of one million is located near the world’s busiest shipping lands with control of access to the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. It provides refuelling, transshipment and an entrepôt for #Ethiopia as well as hosting an array of foreign naval bases (Germany, Spain, Italy, France, the USA, the UK, China, and Saudi Arabia), on the opposite side of the Red Sea from the Houthi-controlled shores of Yemen. The Djibouti Sovereign Fund (Fonds Souverain de Djibouti, FSD) plans to double the GDP of the East African country within seven years from about US$3.7 billion in 2023 to US$7.5 billion by 2030 – and it is playing on its strengths to boost the economy. Global SWF examines FSD's latest developments in digital infrastructure and ports, including co-investments involving Ethiopian Investment Holdings, PAIX Data Centres, wingu.africa group, Djibouti Damerjog Industrial Park, Djibouti Data Center S.A.R.L. (DDC) - as well as the risks and limitations they will face in a geopolitically unstable region: https://lnkd.in/eXSiTugS

Inauguration of Wingu.Africa’s Tier 3 Certified Data Center in Djibouti: A Milestone in Regional Digital Transformation Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, to inaugurate our new Wingu.Africa Tier 3 Certified Data Center in Djibouti. This state-of-the-art 3 MW facility, located in partnership with the T07 Technology Park, also houses the T07 cable landing station and a cutting-edge Innovation Center. These features make it a critical hub for connectivity, innovation, and digital transformation in the region. As our second carrier-neutral facility in Djibouti—following the pioneering Djibouti Data Center, which has been operational since 2013—this new center is fully equipped to meet the demands of modern independent operations and support the region’s growing digital infrastructure. I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of the Republic of Djibouti, the honorable guests, including Ministers from the Republic of Djibouti, and our incredible partners at T07. A special thank you goes to the wonderful team whose hard work and dedication made this project a reality. As pioneers in Djibouti since 2013, we are proud to continue investing in this strategic, forward-thinking country and supporting its journey as a leader in digital transformation.
