About Rick Springfield
Grammy-winning Australian pop-rocker Rick Springfield parlayed his ’80s success into a lengthy recording and acting career complete with four Platinum albums and numerous starring roles. ∙ After it was a hit for his previous band, Zoot, he released an updated solo version of “Speak to the Sky” in 1972, which became his first of nine Top 20 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. ∙ The 1981 breakout album Working Class Dog included his signature song, the Grammy-winning “Jessie’s Girl,” whose long climb to No. 1 was helped by the debut of MTV. ∙ Springfield won Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist honors at the American Music Awards af 1982’s Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet, featuring the No. 2 smash “Don’t Talk to Strangers.” ∙ Longtime fan Dave Grohl recruited him for the acclaimed 2013 documentary Sound City, and Springfield wrote and performed “The Man That Never Was” with Foo Fighters for its soundtrack. ∙ In addition to his iconic turn as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital in the early ’80s, he’s appeared in such series as Californication, Supernatural, and True Detective. ∙ He wrote two New York Times bestsellers: Magnificent Vibration and Late, Late at Night, which Rolling Stone named one of the 25 Greatest Rock Memoirs of All Time.
