Caravan

About Caravan

Part of the same Canterbury scene as Soft Machine, and sharing a similar pastoral prog/jazz sensibility, the British band Caravan presaged the cheeky humor and melodic daring of bands like 10cc and Sparks. Although they are revered as part of the prog pantheon, especially in England, the band never got much beyond cult status elsewhere in the world. A regularly changing line-up from 1968 through the '80s included, at points, Rupert Hine and Lol Coxhill, as well as mainstay Pye Hastings, and Hastings revived the band sporadically for recordings and gigs.
