Clocking in at just over an hour, this 19-song effort marks the Modesto, California, group’s lengthiest to date. Coming after a series of mostly EP-length projects and mini-albums, including fan favourites Flores and Seguimos Avanzando, the long-awaited full-length expression of Marca MP’s contemporary música mexicana sound leaves little doubt of their well-deserved standing. Having now survived and recovered from a near-fatal car accident, rejuvenated frontman Chato delivers a healthy mix of corridos and románticas, both as originals as well as momentous covers. There are nods to Grupo Codiciado and Los Tucanes de Tijuana on “Tolin Infante” and a memorable version of the late legend Chalino Sánchez’s “Ya Después De Muerto”. With his own pen, he offers up songs that reflect his growth and depth as a songwriter, including “Como Hueso”, “Tengo Con Que” and the yearning “Te Quiero”.
