Charlie Chaplin’s name may be synonymous with early cinema, but his musical talents are much less appreciated. Many of his songs, written and arranged in collaboration with established film composers, are still performed today. Violinist Philippe Quint and pianist Marta Aznavoorian present some of Chaplin’s most delightful love songs, including his most poignant, “Now That It’s Ended,” alongside a beautiful version of highlights from the actor’s first film score, for 1931’s City Lights. Joshua Bell makes a welcome guest appearance on “Smile” and “Mandolin Serenade.” A warmhearted treat.
