Emotions run high in Dhibu Ninan Thomas’ songs for Arunraja Kamaraj’s directorial debut Kanaa, a Tamil sports drama about a farmer’s daughter who dreams of being a cricketer. “Oonjala Oonjala” and “Savaal" are adrenalised rock and rap anthems. “Kanne En Kannazhage” is a ballad packed with poignancy and “Othaiyadi Pathayila” is a heady, rhythmic romance. But it’s the fun, folksy “Vaayadi Petha Pulla", featuring Sivakarthikeyan and his preschool-aged daughter Aaradhana, that could soften the hardest of hearts.
