Niranjana Ramanan

Playback singer and performer Niranjana Ramanan propels South Indian filmi hits and Carnatic classics with mesmerising vocal acrobatics and a flair for experimentation. • Niranjana Ramanan’s guru was Carnatic vocalist Sulochana Pattabhiraman, but she also credits her father for turning her decisively towards music. • After trying her luck on a reality show, Ramanan got her Kollywood break in the 2016 movie Maruthu, singing vibrant folk duet “Akka Petha Jakkavandi” with Anirudh Ravichander. • She had another career-changing encounter with Ravichander in 2021 on the soundtrack he composed for Doctor, which includes Ramanan’s spellbinding smash “Soul of Doctor (Theme)”. • Other highlights that same year include the Tamil and Telugu soundtracks of Thalaivii and Jai Bhim. She also features on the Kannada and Malayalam versions of the latter. • Ramanan explores new musical horizons with her band Staccato. Their captivating performances mix modern iterations of her beloved krithis with Ilaiyaraaja favourites and Western flavours.
