APUDG's master planning for Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC) has reached a significant milestone through a landmark collaboration between Johor Corporation’s (JCorp) wholly-owned subsidiary, JLand Group - JLG (JLG), and the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA). This partnership will drive the development of the 582-acre Discovery City precinct and the Signature Gallery building within the expansive 7,290-acre IBTEC township in Johor. This collaboration enriches APUDG's ongoing master planning efforts for IBTEC, positioning the project as a future-focused, globally recognised benchmark for innovative and sustainable townships. As the largest sandbox ecosystem in Asia, IBTEC brings together forward-thinking industrialists, digital pioneers, and lifelong learners in a cutting-edge environment designed to fuel seamless and sustainable growth. The Master Plan for IBTEC is engineered to achieve a 45% carbon reduction from the Business as Usual (BaU) baseline, in line with the Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF). APUDG has led the development of the action plan, which has been submitted to the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) for the Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge. IBTEC is set to become the first industrial city in Malaysia to be awarded and certified with the prestigious 5-diamond recognition. Incorporating advanced international design standards while adhering to local regulations, APUDG is preparing the IBTEC Urban Design Guidelines (UDG) and Plot Development Framework Plan (PDFP). These initiatives aim to create a cohesive and consistent design approach, enhancing low-carbon performance and fostering a holistic vision for the IBTEC township. Zaha Hadid Architects are leading the Discovery City design, in addition to designing the centrepiece of the masterplan – the RM269 million cultural centre by ZHA will be the practice’s first building in Malaysia. HIJJAS Architects and Planners is the Local Project Architect while AJM-Planning and Urban Design Group serve as the local master planner.

According to a press statement on Tuesday, Zaha Hadid Architects will lead the design for the project, while AJM-Planning and Urban Design Group Sdn Bhd (APUDG) will serve as the local master planner and the principal submitting person for the development order plan of Discovery City.
