“Impact measurement is so vital for strategy and resource allocation, yet can often be out on the back burner with limited resource available.” The Hauraki Opportunity, an initiative of Waikato Wellbeing Project, and many supporting partners, is a community co-designed measurement of wellbeing, designed to support decision makers, at all levels, to make important decisions for the current and future wellbeing of the community. The survey is open now for members of the region listed below.
Today I have a favour to ask, that I really hope is an opportunity to share. For the past few years, Olivia Webster, the team at Huber Social, and I have been involved in the formation and delivery of the Hauraki Opportunity. The Hauraki Opportunity is a community co-designed measurement of Wellbeing, for all of Hauraki, designed with the goal of delivering a robust, repeatable measurement that can support decision-makers - at all levels - to make important choices wisely for the current and future wellbeing of Hauraki. This is an opportunity to uncover insights on the drivers and influences for wellbeing which - through the teams at the Waikato Wellbeing Project, the project partners @Te Tara o Te Whai and many supporting partners including Hauraki District Council, Matamata-Piako District Council, and Thames-Coromandel District Council, and the Te Tara o Te Whai Alliance Governance Group - will be shared widely. Impact measurement is so vital for strategy and resource allocation, yet can often be out on the back burner with limited resource available. Genuinely, a project like this that brings communities together, reduces the burden of impact measurement for flaxroots organisations and retains a robust and ethical process that elevates the human experience into the data points, is something that lights me up. Now, the favour I am here to ask. The survey for the Hauraki Opportunity is open now (closing late next month) and while we have had a strong response so far, we still have a long way to go to gather the representative voices we are striving for. The survey is open to anyone who lives, works, or plays in Thames-Coromandel, Hauraki or Matamata-Piako Districts, and all who whakapapa to Hauraki. If that is you, please complete the survey. Or, If this resonates with you, please share the opportunity widely. Tukua tō reo kia rere. A few points: • It has been co-designed with the people of Hauraki, Thames-Coromandel and Matamata-Piako Districts, this survey aims to capture what matters most to your wellbeing, and the wellbeing of those you love and care for. • Enter your details after the survey to go into the draw to win one of 80 gift cards valued at $25 each. • Results will be shared publicly, in a session designed to support flax roots organisations to utilise the results in May 2025.
