Thank you Bernama TV 🇲🇾 for having me. I appear on minute 9:45-19.45, discussing the importance of safeguarding education in conflict zones. Schools are often used as safe havens, places where ppl in conflict zones seek refuge, because schools and educational institutions are among the places that are protected under international humanitarian law (IHL) from attack. This is because education is a fundamental human right. Yet, attacks happen frequently, which not only DISRUPTS education but also on forces families to flee, causing displacement. These are only some of the many barriers to education that children in conflict zones around the world face—they are not able to access education, which exacerbates the cycle of poverty. Let's consider the situation in Gaza. UN experts expressed grave concern over the pattern of attacks on schools, universities, teachers, and students in the Gaza Strip, raising serious alarm over the systemic destruction of the Palestinian education system. To date, the aggression against Palestinians in Gaza has destroyed more than 400 schools, amounting to more than 80% of schools in Gaza. In addition, the last remaining university in Gaza was demolished in January 2024. 60% of educational facilities, including 13 public libraries, have been damaged or destroyed and at least 625,000 students have no access to education. UN experts have considered that there may be an intentional effort to comprehensively destroy the Palestinian education system, an action known as ‘scholasticide.’ We can see that attacks against education systems, particularly in conflict zones, can lead to many other human rights violations, as well as threaten physical, psychological, and socio-economic well-being of affected communities. We need to come together, amplify our voices, and collaborate within our capacities to raise awareness on this issue and offer assistance where possible. Thank you to Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) Malaysia for giving me the opportunity to speak on this issue. May the simple sharing be of benefit.

I guess all good things must come to an end. Thank you Competency Enhancement Centre (CEC) and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) Malaysia for having me as your summer intern. Thank you for allowing me to gain much knowledge from my time here. This journey brings me one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a diplomat some day. I will forever remember the feeling of anxiety I was experiencing in this new environment on my first day 20th June 2024. However, as time passed and I got to know the lay of the place, I started feeling more comfortable, more at home, something along the lines of "This is where I belong". As the time passed, I found myself feeling more natural here and the experience was definitely worth every second. Here I learned about what it takes to become a diplomat, the knowledge required, Etiquette, Protocol handling and being a Liaison Officer. All this knowledge through assisting with the Diploma in Diplomacy program (DiD), Courses for ASEAN 2025 Liaison and Personal Security Officers as well as the Pre-posting courses for Heads of Mission. It saddens me a lot that my time here as an intern has concluded. Nonetheless, I will come back one day :) Thank you CEC team for the wonderful time.

Importance of Knowledge Culture in Leadership: A Civilisational Perspective The CEO of ASLI moderated a session with Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Nor Wan Daud, the Holder of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas Distinguished Chair of Islamic Thought on the 'Importance of Knowledge Culture in Leadership: A Civilisational Perspective' at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) Malaysia (IDFR). Prof Wan Mohd Nor shared the philosophical underpinnings of leadership, and stressed that leadership begins with self-knowledge and radiates outward from the individual to the family and eventually to the state and nation. Prof Wan discussed how today’s challenges arise from the shift away from objective truth, which leads to leadership driven by self-interest. True leadership, he argued, requires a deep understanding of history, purpose, and the pursuit of social good beyond personal gain. We thank IDFR for the invitation to ASLI and to Prof Wan Mohd Nor for the enlightening discussion. 🌐 Empowering Leaders, Advancing Societies.
