As the 2025 chair, Malaysia’s in the driver’s seat for #ASEAN AI safety. But navigating diverse needs and resources across the region is a huge challenge. What must be considered to ensure everyone benefits from the development of the network, not just a select few? Researcher Samantha Khoo Su-Yen Khoo suggests a collaborative approach: an ASEAN AI Safety Network that is the key to unlocking ethical and inclusive AI development. This collaborative approach could bridge the digital divide and promote transparency, develop ethical guidelines and build trust. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gtGsc47e #ISISMY #thinktank #AISafety #ASEAN #ethicalAI #DigitalFuture #ASEANAISafe

We were thrilled to host more than 25 delegates from the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Programme (MLP). Thank you, Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Zainal Abidin for your insights into Malaysia’s domestic and foreign priorities. The director-general of National Security Council provided a sweeping assessment of the nation’s challenges – the US-Sino trade war, maximising its strategic space, demographic dividends and why the West should fear a ‘weak’ China than a strong one. The conversation didn’t stop there. Thanks also to Dr Hassan Abedin (Unitas Global Advisory), Shahriman Lockman, Harris Zainul and Thomas Daniel Benjamin for their contributions to the evening conversation. MLP is doing incredible work connecting and empowering the next generation of international leaders. We’re proud to be involved in Track 1.5 and 2.0 activities and support this mission. #ISISMY #thinktank #tracktwodiplomacy #NextGenLeaders #FutureIsNow

🤝 Uzbekistan & Malaysia are ready to level up our partnership! While #Uzbekistan is Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner in Central Asia, our collaboration extends beyond trade. Both nations are keen to align strategies and explore synergies for stronger #ASEAN-Central Asia cooperation. We hosted a closed-door roundtable to strengthen our partnership, focusing on politics and security, economics and trade, education, tourism and sustainable development. We also inked a memorandum of understanding with the Development Strategy Center to seek alignments in policy frameworks to optimise our long-standing and synergistic relationship. 🚨 Key insights from the roundtable: Security: tackling transnational crime in the Golden Triangle/Crescent with joint training and best practices. Economy: aligning national strategies – #NETR, #NIMP2030 #MADANI #UzbekistanStrategy2030 – for growth in green energy, modern agriculture, and leveraging on Sarawak & Penang’s strengths. Culture: fostering people-to-people ties through education, tourism and arts exchanges. Special thanks to Dr Eldor Aripov, Director of Institute for Strategic & Regional Studies Uzbekistan; Sohana Enver Azyze, COO of Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia; HE Dr Karomiddin Gadoev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia, and all participants for their valuable contributions.
