We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your inspiring officiating speech at the Malaysia Venture Forum 2024. Your words truly set the tone for the event and reinforced the importance of venture capital in driving Malaysia's economic transformation. Your emphasis on venture capital as a key lever for economic growth and innovation under the Ekonomi MADANI framework was particularly powerful. We appreciate your insight into how developing a vibrant venture ecosystem not only boosts technological progress but also uplifts communities and creates sustainable job opportunities, particularly in high-value industries. Your call to action for more active participation from private sector investors and the need for a balanced approach in funding is invaluable as we move towards building a venture capital ecosystem that is not only vibrant but also self-sustaining. We are excited to continue working alongside your ministry and other stakeholders to foster innovation and create a brighter future for all Malaysians. Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and for officially opening the Malaysia Venture Forum 2024. We look forward to further collaboration in the years ahead. #MalaysiaVentureForum2024 #EconomicGrowth #Innovation
Earlier this week I officiated the Malaysian Venture Capital Forum 2024, and spoke about the importance of nurturing a vibrant venture capital ecosystem as part of the overall approach to transform Malaysia’s economic landscape. Under the Ekonomi MADANI framework, venture capital plays a pivotal role as a growth engine to drive innovation among start-ups, create high-value jobs for Malaysians, and unlock opportunities to build industries of the future. The Government has prioritized initiatives to strengthen our venture capital ecosystem, as reflected in Budget 2025. This includes RM1 billion each for Khazanah’s National Fund-of-Funds to attract VC fund managers investing in Malaysian start-ups, and KWAP’s Dana Perintis to support local start-ups at critical growth stages. Further, RM65 million is allocated under Cradle Fund to help start-ups scale regionally and globally. But funding alone will not cut it. For venture capital to truly thrive, capability development and talent growth is also critical. Start-ups need skilled and entrepreneurial Malaysians to power their growth and compete globally. This is why I urge all players in the ecosystem - GLICs, private investors, and start-ups themselves, to invest in developing local talent and capabilities. Together, we can build a vibrant and sustainable ecosystem that not only attracts investments but also ensures Malaysians are at the heart of our growth journey. #EkonomiMADANI #VentureCapital #MalaysiaMADANI #Belanjawan2025
