Time to go home? The first day breezed through so fast. By the time you know it, people around you are packing up. So, how was it for you on the first day at work? This is the question many new joiners ask themselves. They are now wondering if they have joined the right company. Or was it like "Omgeeee what have I done????..." First impressions last the longest and as a HR practitioner, it is our duty to ensure that first #impression is a positive one. Creating that feeling of being welcomed provides #reassurance that one is being taken care of. The feeling that #hospitality exists. Ensuring the onboarding process is well communicated so that everyone knows the agenda for the day including what information and actions it requires, this smoothens and in fact, allays anxiety. Introducing the work environment, colleagues and managers will further enhance the hospitality experience. Capping the day off by visiting the new joiner solidifies the notion in the new joiner’s mind that, “Hey, this company has a good HR Ecosystem, let’s give it time”. Fish on hook. My first day at work at my very first job, right out of college, was a great one. The level of detail and hospitality shown by the HR Team was exemplary.
