  • Children can sometimes worry a lot and calming them down can be a hassle. Here are three effective techniques to help a child who worries a lot feel safe: 1. Encourage open communication by letting them discuss their concerns without passing judgment. Actively listen to them and let them know that it is acceptable to feel nervous or anxious and assist them in realizing that their emotions are real. 2. Establish a calm Routine: Stick to routines like going to bed on time and engaging in calming activities like bed time stories or deep breathing. Consistency creates a sense of security and reduces anxiety. 3. Instruct Problem-Solving: Educate your child on how to break down their anxieties into smaller, more manageable bits. Guide them in thinking through solutions, which can help them feel more in control and less overwhelmed. Do these and watch them blossom in confidence. • Four activities parents can do with their children to strengthen bonds. As a parent, what activities do you do together with your kids to strengthen your bond with them? Nothing is coming to mind? Worry less. Here are some activities to do with your kids ■ Cooking or baking together: Involving your children in preparing meals or baking strengthens parental bonds and also teaches them valuable life skills. Delegating small kitchen tasks to them and sharing the prepared meal strengthens your relationship with them through shared accomplishment and quality time. ■Outdoor activities: Outdoor activities like sports, biking or even long walks are also a good way to bond with your children. ■Creative project: Engage them in creative activities like drawing, painting or crafting. These activities encourage self expression, teamwork and the joy of creating something together. ■Storytelling: Reading books together or telling them stories not only fosters emotional closeness but it also stimulates imagination. • Tips on how to help kids manage their emotions and encourage emotional illiteracy. As parents/guardians, we play a paramount role in cultivating emotional literacy in our children, which is the ability to recognise and articulate emotions effectively. Highlighted below are some tips to help: ■ Model Emotional Expression and regulation: Children learn by observing adults and it's incumbent on parents to show their child/ward that it's ok to show emotions and also to show them how to cope in constructive ways. When adults express their emotions in a calm and clear manner, children are likely to adopt similar behaviours. ■ Teach emotional vocabulary: Another factor that also facilitates emotional illiteracy is helping your children build a rich emotional vocabulary that way they are able to describe exactly what they are feeling. ■Help them identify what triggers them and also teach them coping strategies: Teaching your kids to recognise what triggers their emotions is pertinent in emotional management. Urge them to introspect on situations where they felt certain emotions. Next, you teach them coping strategies that help them manage their emotions. ■Celebrate milestones: Celebrate their emotional wins and acknowledge their emotional growth. Praise them when they handle their emotions well and show them that you see their efforts and that you're proud of them. Helping children manage their emotions properly is not a single phase but a long process and it's worthwhile to know that by empowering our children to navigate their emotions properly, we are grooming a better generation. • 🎉 It's a Wrap! Thank You for an Impactful Year! 🎉 As 2024 draws to an end, we can’t help but reflect on what a year it has been. Yes, there were challenges, but together, we found the strength to push through and make a real difference. This year, we reached 950 children and young adults through our programs, providing support, education, and a safe space for mental health awareness. This number does not include the lives touched through our Suicide Prevention Walk, Vox Pop, and Radio Advocacy initiatives. Every voice amplified and step taken has brought us closer to a world where mental health is prioritised for children and teenagers. But none of this would have been possible without you. To our dear partners and donors, thank you for believing in what we do and standing with us. Your generosity made it possible to change lives and bring hope to those who needed it most. To our dear volunteers, you are the heartbeat of Blaze Health Foundation. Your time, energy, and dedication have inspired us all, and we’re endlessly grateful for everything you do. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re filled with hope and determination to do even more. Together, let’s keep breaking barriers, reducing stigma, and empowering the next generation. Here’s to everything we accomplished in 2024 and the brighter future we’ll build together 💚 #BlazeHealthFoundation #MentalHealthMatters #Gratitude #Impact2024

  • Hey, squad! Let us discuss a topic that has been on our minds recently: the standards of beauty set by society. You know, those unrealistic expectations that make us feel like we're not good enough? You scroll through social media, and all you see are flawless faces, perfect bodies, and effortless styles. It's time to take a stand against society's beauty standards and promote self-acceptance, self-love, and individuality. Here's how: 1. Follow diverse accounts: Unfollow accounts that make you feel bad about yourself, and follow accounts that promote body positivity, self-acceptance, and individuality. 2. Practice self-care: Take care of your physical, emotional, and mental health. Engage in activities that make you happy and help you relax. 3. Focus on your strengths:Rather than focusing on your flaws, focus on your strengths, talents, and accomplishments. 4. Surround yourself with positivity:Spend time with people who uplift and support you, and avoid those who bring you down. You Are Enough! Remember, you are enough, just as you are.
