Air pollution poses a severe health risk to vital organs, particularly in Africa, where it contributes to over 1 million deaths annually. Women, who often spend more time cooking with solid fuels, are especially vulnerable to respiratory diseases like COPD and lung cancer. Children, too, face high risks, with air pollution linked to 236,000 neonatal deaths each year. The impact extends beyond the lungs, affecting the heart and brain, with long-term consequences for overall health. In Africa, household air pollution is the primary source of exposure, underlining the urgent need for cleaner cooking solutions to protect vulnerable communities.
#AirPollution in the form of fine particulate matter or PM2.5, can lead to: 🔸 strokes 🔸 diabetes 🔸 heart diseases 🔸 lung cancer 🔸 respiratory diseases It also impacts pre and neonatal health.

Did you know that women have been historically excluded from medical research? In Africa, this gap in healthcare hits even harder, with many women struggling to get accurate diagnoses or effective treatments for conditions like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes to mention a few. The truth is, women’s health needs are often overlooked, but this doesn’t have to be the norm. That is why Débbo Africa is stepping up to change the narrative by bridging the healthcare gap. We are here to ensure that every woman has access to the care she deserves. Together, we can advocate for inclusive research, and push for policies that prioritize women’s unique health needs. #HerHealthOurMission #GenderHealthEquity #MedicalResearch #WomensHealth
