Super grateful to have been a part of this session! Special thanks to Remedial Health (YC W22) and PSN-Young Pharmacists Group Lagos for putting together such an insightful session. I had an amazing conversation with my colleague Adeola Adeleke, and it was inspiring to see how much impact pharmacists are making, especially on the frontline of global health. In my contribution, I reflected on my experience as a frontline pharmacist at Famasi Africa, particularly during the cholera outbreak in Nigeria in June 2024. The morning after the Eid celebration, while many were enjoying the holiday, we woke up to thousands of requests and questions about the cholera vaccine. As a pharmacist, there was no break for me—my priority was ensuring our customers were safe and well-informed. I vividly remember the message I sent to the team, letting them know that there was no rest for us because duty called. It felt like that iconic moment in Endgame when Captain America says, "Avengers, Assemble!"—we sprang into action without hesitation. We immediately began coordinating with pharmacies and cold chain logistics providers to confirm vaccine availability, and ensure swift delivery to those in need. But our work didn’t stop at just delivering vaccines. We created a comprehensive resource bank https://lnkd.in/gBEg7HHE to answer all the questions consumers had—how and when to use the vaccine, what side effects to monitor, and what precautions to take. We also launched widespread patient education campaigns across multiple platforms to keep everyone informed and safe. Our response time was so quick that one customer even asked if a bot was replying!😂 That’s what it means to be a pharmacist on the frontline—dedication, care, and a deep commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of our communities. We don’t just provide medications; we provide reassurance, guidance, and care. Thanks again to the team for organizing this and to everyone contributing to the impactful work we do daily! #PharmacistsOnTheFrontline #GlobalHealth #HealthcareInnovation

Last year, we launched this initiative as a one-off trial to see how well we could pull it off. Thanks to our partnership with Famasi Africa, we were able to reach a total of 22 sickle cell warriors across 7 states: Lagos, Abuja, Delta, Kaduna, Ogun, Osun, and Ondo. This year, we’re expanding our reach even further, supporting more warriors and increasing our distribution cycle. For this cycle, we have a total of 51 warriors in 12 states: Abia, Benue, Delta, Ekiti, FCT (Abuja), Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau. Our goal is to provide essential routine medications for a 3-month period. As always, we hope to continue this tradition, and to do an even better job of showing our warriors how much they mean to us as the years go by. Thank you so much for all your help and donations. Everything we do is only possible because of your generosity. P.S. We’re still raising funds to cover the next two months of this cycle. Please click the link to donate to our cause - https://gofund.me/049f07c7 — If you’ve received your routine drugs for the month, please let us know in the comments, we’re excited to meet you 🥰 #SickleSanta’24
