Earlier today, as we marked the #YouthLead 2023 #InternationalYouthDay: #GreenSkills towards a Sustainable World. Discussions centred on how African Youths should position themselves for #leadership. More efforts are required to galvanise support for instructional training in developing relevant #GreenSkills for future global challenges for youths. Collaborations cross-cutting government, civil society and the educational sector is required to equip young people with the skill set to respond to new job profiles in industry sectors inclusive of #RenewableEnergy, #Recycling, Improved #FarmingMethod, #TechHubs, #CloudComputing Internet of Things #IoTs to name a few. The world is witnessing a gradual shift in energy sources to adopt more greenhouse friendly energy. Here we see a shift from crude oil extracts to clean sources of energy in solar, geothermal and wind catalyzed by an increase in #DigitalTech and Internet of Things #IoTs creating more connections to #CloudTech and #AI development. We now have a transverse virtual and physical ecosystem. #GreenSkills will prepare the #Youth for the demands of the 5th Industrial Revolution. kaltumi Abdulazeez Kayode Oguntade United Nations Peace Direct European Union Microsoft

#16DaysOfActivism 2024 theme, “Towards Beijing +30: UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls." - bit.ly/3CGOxS2. There is #NoExcuse to violence against women, we join the campaign to challenge prevalent gender-based violence in Nigeria. Ladies Empowerment Goals and Support Initiative (LEGASI) has a goal to empower especially women and girls in Nigeria to ensure they live peacefully and are empowered within their community to live their lives free of any form of violence and hate. Our Theory of Change (ToC) stands on the premise that if more women and girls are empowered financially, emotionally and have access to good education with the right social support systems they become less vulnerable to violence within their immediate community and the larger society. As a community-based organization, the organizations Girl-Centered programs are focused at firstly creating safe spaces for women and girls to converge and discuss about their unique challenges, especially domestic constraints which they face on a daily basis. Through our Women, Peace and Security program we are constantly bridging the gap on preventing the cycle of violence for women and girls in our intervention communities and strive to give the women and girls a voice and role models they can look up to when they have to speak up and speak out on issues that concern them. Overall, we are building confidence, leadership and communication skills, harnessing entrepreneurial opportunities towards financial independence. Peace Direct Kayode Oguntade kaltumi Abdulazeez

As part of creating awareness towards living in peace, our team visited some of our partners in Nasarawa - Kaduna. We could see clearly more Christians and Muslims are talking, working together and creating active dialogue platforms to build peace in their community. Local actors do have a strong hold to promote peace and #CultivateACultureofPEACE as they converge to find targeted solutions to communal conflict. https://bit.ly/3SxvCye Towards August 1, 2024 Nationwide protest in Nigeria - #EndBadGovernment. Press conference: Tuesday, 30-07-2024. We call for a peaceful protest, but if we ask people not to protest, then what other alternative is there for people to vent out their grievances?

Where peacebuilding meets entrepreneurship. We formed a new word PEACE-PRENEUR, maybe, someday we will see this in our regular dictionaries. Happiness Simon Udele means business, #HoldOnToYourDream. Barely 3 months in training and she has produced men’s slippers and full corporate shoes. Timkat Jonah has also successfully built and fabricated a solid iron security door awaiting spray painting. According to his boss, he completed 90% of the task. More encouragement will position them to create jobs and contribute to ameliorating unemployment in their community and in the long-term creating structures where youths are engaged in useful activities rather than violence. Thanks to Peace Direct for having faith in the dream. kaltumi Abdulazeez Kayode Oguntade Spotlight Initiative GIZ Nigeria & ECOWAS
