Earlier today, our CEO Kayode Adeleke, and BLT Europe GmbH CEO Gary Ding, in the presence of BLT's founder Dr Xue, signed a letter of intent to deepen the partnership between both companies and further develop additive manufacturing offerings in West Africa. Our partnership aims to improve the availability of high quality additively manufactured parts to industries in West Africa, improve awareness and adoption of additive manufacturing in the region, and further deepen RusselSmith's expertise through consultancy and training. As part of our commitment, we are investing in a BLT-S400 system to enhance our production capacity and our ability to innovate. This exciting step in our partnership represents more than an investment in technology. It is about fostering innovation, building local capacity, and creating more opportunities for industrial development. We look forward to working together with BLT to drive innovation and build a more resilient future for industries in West Africa. #AdditiveManufacturing #3DPrinting #Partnership #WestAfrica #RusselSmith

If you chose option A in our recent #SafetyTuesday question, 'To mitigate workplace hazards and minimise the risk of accidents', you are correct! A Permit to Work (PTW) system is a critical tool in safety management, primarily designed to control hazardous work activities and reduce accident risks. By implementing a PTW system, organisations can effectively monitor high-risk tasks such as hot work, confined space entry, and electrical maintenance, ensuring that each task has been thoroughly assessed for potential hazards and that necessary safety precautions are in place. A PTW system typically involves a structured approval process, requiring workers and supervisors to review the job’s risks and document safety procedures before work begins. This process helps verify that only trained personnel are involved, appropriate safety equipment is available, and emergency response measures are ready. Beyond accident prevention, PTW systems help create a safety-conscious work culture where employees are actively engaged in safety procedures. This proactive approach not only safeguards employees but also enhances operational efficiency by reducing the downtime associated with accidents and incidents. Consider implementing or reviewing your Permit to Work system today to strengthen your commitment to a safer, more efficient workplace. #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyManagement #PTWSystem #RiskMitigation #RusselSmith

While Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is crucial, it should always be considered the last line of defence in managing risks. The "Hierarchy of Controls" framework emphasises addressing hazards at their source, advocating for the elimination of risks, or the use of substitution, engineering, and administrative controls to reduce exposure, long before turning to PPE as a solution. Here is the complete hierarchy of controls, ranked by effectiveness: Elimination > Substitution > Engineering Controls > Administrative Controls > PPE. This approach ensures a safer and more proactive way of managing workplace hazards. While PPE is essential, it is more effective to first implement safer designs, automation, and behavioural adjustments. Relying too much on PPE without addressing the root causes of hazards can lead to a false sense of security. By ensuring that all layers of safety measures are applied holistically, we can create a safer work environment for ourselves and everyone else. #WorkplaceSafety #SafetyFirst #SafetyTuesdays #QHSE #RusselSmith #RiskManagement
