About us
Teach For Nigeria (TFN) is a non-profit organization focused on developing a movement of leaders across the nation who are committed to ending educational inequity. At TFN, we recruit and train graduates who are then placed to teach in under-served schools during a two-year fellowship. The fellows also commit to undertaking various community or classroom projects. We are driving the movement towards educational equity and excellence in Nigeria.

Language shapes the way we learn, and every child deserves to start with the right foundation! According to UNESCO, children learn best when taught in a language they understand. When children learn in their mother tongue, they understand better and build stronger literacy and numeracy skills. At Teach For Nigeria, we use the Teaching at the Right Level Africa approach, specifically the L2F2 method (Language Learning from Familiar to Formal). This helps students transition from their familiar language (Yoruba) to an unfamiliar one (English), ensuring they learn more effectively in both the classroom and their communities. What’s your mother tongue? Drop it in the comments, and let’s celebrate our diverse languages together! 🎉 #InternationalMotherLanguageDay #TeachForNigeria #TaRL #FoundationalLearning #EveryChildCounts
