About us
The Graciella Initiative (TGI) is run by Team TGI, a team of young African advocates of the rights of girls in Africa. TGI is presently located within 8 countries of Africa and leverages on partnerships (SDG-17). We focus on the 4th and 5th sustainable development goals of the United Nations (Quality Education and Gender Equality respectively). ➡️OUR VISION : To give the African Girl a VOICE We do this through the following : 👉Yearly Girls Empowerment Series. We provide economic support and employment opportunities for young women. 👉Yearly Girl Child Conference. We have covered 4 geopolitical zones of Nigeria so far. We would be going to Zimbabwe in 2020. 👉Girl Power Club. Now established in 4 African countries. 👉GirlChild Education. We sponsor the education of girls in undeserved communities in the Northern part of Nigeria where child marriage is very high. This project started in 2019 as well. Two girls every year are put into school till they finish their secondary school education. 👉Textbook Donations and More 👉Project Girlducate. This involves partnering with Montessori schools in Ogun State to teach girls in underserved communities how to read, write, and prepare them to start Primary School.

DAY 14: #16daysofactivismagainstgenderbasedviolence 1️⃣Outland Denim is a pioneering social enterprise in the fashion industry, dedicated to combating human trafficking and supporting vulnerable women through sustainable employment. 2️⃣The Tote Project is in the fight of human trafficking. Here, fair trade totes and pouches are sewn in India by women who have made the choice to journey out of the sex trade and into freedom. 20% of their profits is donated to Two Wings to help survivors of human trafficking in the United States pursue their dreams. 3️⃣Citizen and Darling: Christina Vaichus Karina McAhren, co-founders and friends use a 3-prong approach with their apparel brand Citizen and Darling. They strive to spread awareness through their clothing, produce ethically and they donate to partner nonprofits. Through their apparel, Citizen and Darling spreads awareness of human trafficking by their slogans like “Freedom Fighter” and “Wonderfully Made”. Their goods are ethically produced and sweatshop free – all certified by an independent third party. They also donate 10% of each item sold to different non-profit anti-human trafficking organizations. 3️⃣PURPOSE Jewelry is the product arm of iSanctuary. Their jewelry is beautifully crafted by human trafficking survivors in Mumbai, India and Orange County, California providing them freedom, dignity and hope for these survivors. From creation to shipping, these young women are playing a critical role in every step of the process. They are able to earn a fair wage and gain employable skills for the future. 4️⃣Thistle Farms‘ mission is to heal, empower and employ women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. They do this by providing safe and supportive housing, medical care, therapy, education, and job training. Their product arm are everyday items like hands soaps, lotions, textiles and decor. Slavery is real, but it doesn’t have to be. Let’s join in this fight together. We can simply start by consciously purchasing items that are ethically made and supporting businesses that are doing something about it. #endgbv #violenceagainstwomenandgirls #16daysofactivism #16days

Day 12: 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. According to the WomenTech Network, here are 10 strategies that women can use to combat #OnlineHarrassment: 1️⃣ Utilize social media tools for safety Harness the built-in privacy settings and reporting tools available on social media platforms. Adjust your privacy settings to control who can see your posts, contact you, and comment on your content. Actively report harassment to the platform to take advantage of their policies against online abuse. 2️⃣Engage in Digital Literacy Education Educate yourself and others about the nuances of online harassment. Understand the different forms it can take and learn about the psychological tactics used by harassers. By being informed, you can recognize harassment early and decide the best course of action. 3️⃣Implement Block and Mute Features Do not hesitate to block or mute individuals who make you feel uncomfortable or threatened online. This immediate action can protect your mental health and create a safer online space for you to express yourself without fear of backlash. 4️⃣Secure Personal Information Be cautious about how much personal information you share online. Regularly check privacy settings on social media accounts to ensure that personal details like your location, contact information, or workplace are not accessible to potential harassers. 5️⃣Create Support Networks Build a network of allies and friends who understand and are willing to support victims of online harassment. 6️⃣Document Everything Keep records of all instances of harassment, including dates, times, screenshots, and URLs. This documentation can be crucial for reporting the harassment to social media platforms or legal authorities. 7️⃣Understand Legal Rights and Options Familiarize yourself with the legal protections and recourse available in your jurisdiction related to online harassment. Knowing your rights can empower you to take legal action if necessary and can also deter potential harassers when they know you are prepared to defend yourself legally. 8️⃣Use Anonymous Reporting Tools Many organizations and platforms offer anonymous ways to report harassment. This can be particularly useful for individuals who fear retaliation or further harassment. By reporting anonymously, you can protect your identity while taking action against the perpetrator. 9️⃣Seek Professional Help Don't hesitate to seek out mental health professionals if online harassment is impacting your well-being. Counselors or psychologists specializing in cyberbullying and online harassment can provide coping strategies and emotional support. 🔟Advocate for Stronger Protections Get involved with advocacy groups working to combat online harassment. #16days #TheGraciellaInitiative #OrangeTheWorld #16daysofactivismagainstgenderbasedviolence

DAY 7 (#6Days): According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, here are three ways to support the survivors of #DomesticViolence: 1️⃣Listen Without Judgment During the sharing of a survivor’s story, it is essential to create a safe environment where they feel valued and heard. Listening attentively is one of the most powerful ways to hold space. Listen to their words and emotions instead of interrupting or offering unsolicited advice. By listening without judgment, survivors can feel understood and less alone in their struggles. Here are some ways to be attentive without judgment: Reflect on what you hear to show you’re engaged Ask open-ended questions Validate the other person’s experience Be present when victims of violence or sexual assault are ready to open up 2️⃣Validate Their Feelings As a result of domestic violence, survivors may experience shame, confusion, and fear. Using phrases like “It’s okay to feel this way” or “What you’re feeling is completely understandable” affirms survivors’ feelings. By validating their feelings, you reinforce that their experiences are real and deserving of attention and care. 3️⃣Respect Their Boundaries Providing space means respecting survivors’ boundaries. Trauma is a complex thing, and not everyone is ready to talk about it. Let them lead the conversation and be sensitive to their needs. Respect their boundaries if they prefer silence or need time to gather their thoughts. By respecting their boundaries, you show them that you value their comfort and autonomy, fostering a sense of security. #16DaysofActivism #16Days #EndGBV #DomesticViolence #DV #OrangeTheWorld
