One year ago, we marked a significant milestone in UK-Nigeria relations with the signing of the Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP) – the first of its kind between the UK and an African country. Over the past year, we've worked together to unlock new opportunities for businesses in both countries, driving growth across a breadth of 9 sectors and 5 areas of cooperation, crucial to both economies, such as education, creatives industries, financial and professional services. With trade between the UK and Nigeria reaching £7.5 billion, we continue to strengthen economic ties and foster innovation. Through the ETIP Economic Diversification working group the UK is supporting Nigeria to take advantage of the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), to increase and diversify exports, boost economic growth, and strengthen UK and Nigeria supply chains. The DCTS has removed tariffs on over 3000 Nigerian goods, like cashews, cocoa butter, plantain, tomatoes, and woven cotton. As Nigeria’s economy grows, we look forward to deepening our partnership and building a prosperous future together.
