  • The University Scholars' Forum Leadership Pays Courtesy Visits to Staff Advisors As part of the transitional process, the leadership of the University Scholars' Forum—led by the outgoing Convener, Ajibike Abdulbasit Abiodun—paid a courtesy visit to her esteemed Staff Advisors, Umar Mustapha Imam, PhD and Dr. Yusuf Ahijjo Musa. The visit aimed to express gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the success of the outgoing administration, present the achievements of the outgoing board, and formally introduce the incoming board members. Professor Imam commended the efforts of the outgoing administration and offered valuable advice to the incoming board. He emphasized the importance of highlighting local opportunities and democratizing information about world-class opportunities available within the country. By doing so, the forum can mitigate the brain-drain caused by excessive reliance on overseas opportunities. He stressed the need to develop local resources and capabilities to global standards, citing the Centre For Advanced Medical Research and Training - CAMRET, UDUS as a prime example. Dr. Ahijjo, a renowned Nuclear Physicist and advocate for academic excellence, lauded the exceptional resilience and dedication demonstrated by the outgoing executive board. He encouraged the incoming administration to uphold the tradition of excellence established by their predecessors.

Reflections from the USF Staff Advisors Meeting Today, the outgoing executives(Ajibike Abdulbasit Abiodun) of the University Scholars Forum (USF) introduced us, the incoming executives, to two incredible staff advisors. The meeting was inspiring, and I’d like to share key takeaways: 1️⃣ From the first staff advisor: He commended USF’s amazing efforts and emphasized the importance of in-house scholarships to strengthen Nigeria’s academic and professional sectors. He highlighted how over-reliance on opportunities abroad often leads to brain drain, leaving our academic institutions under-resourced. His advice? “The grass is only greener on the other side because somebody watered it.” He encouraged us to focus on solutions like organizing events about the effects of brain drain on Nigeria and fostering the mindset that we, as citizens, are responsible for fixing our country. 2️⃣ From the second staff advisor: He expressed pride in seeing youths utilize opportunities that weren’t available in his time. He encouraged us to expand our awareness and engagement efforts, emphasizing the importance of faculty representatives in driving growth and inclusivity. This meeting left me inspired to contribute more towards sustainable development and local empowerment through USF. As the incoming executives, we’re motivated to make a difference! #Leadership #Sustainability #USF #Empowerment #BrainDrain #Nigeria
