Excited to share the successful development of Orbit Guardian - our innovative Earth Observation platform supporting countries in monitoring and achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.3 on water quality! Last week, we had the pleasure of presenting our final results at ESA's ESRIN facility in Frascati, Italy, with Koen Verberne and Thijs Perenboom from 52impact, and Jacob Senior-Williams Senior from S[&]T.   Key highlights from the project:  🌊 Successfully demonstrated water quality monitoring capabilities across diverse contexts in Uruguay, Sierra Leone and Jamaica, combining Sentinel-2 satellite data with environmental stressors analysis (land use, erosion and groundwater) on a national scale. 🛰️ Developed an integrated dashboard providing insights on both SDG 6.3.1 (wastewater treatment) and 6.3.2 (ambient water quality) through innovative use of Earth Observation and other geospatial data. 🤝 Identified five distinct use cases showing how different countries can benefit from satellite-based water quality monitoring, from data-scarce regions to areas with large water bodies.   This project wouldn't have been possible without the excellent collaboration with S[&]T. Special thanks to Stuart Warner from UNEP GEMS/Water as custodian of SDG 6.3.2 for his valuable guidance, the representatives of Jamaica, Uruguay and Sierra Leone for their insights and feedback, and Marc Paganini from European Space Agency - ESA for his continued support throughout the development.   Looking forward to seeing how Orbit Guardian will help countries streamline their efforts in improving and monitoring water quality!
