Welcoming Jan van Ginkel to Alkemio's Board of Advisors! 🤝 Jan has held many important positions in the public sector in the Netherlands and cares deeply about building a better society for all. Jan’s rational for advising Alkemio: “There are now countless platforms that create social added value. The unique thing about Alkemio is that this digital platform does full justice to all conceivable democratic and moral principles. I think that is very special, even though it really shouldn’t be special at all. Alkemio therefore deserves a strong position with governments, between governments and in collaboration with residents, companies and social organizations. I would like to contribute to this in an advisory role." Jan is currently the Group Director and Deputy Provincial Secretary at the Province of South Holland. He contributes widely to societal worthwhile topics and initiatives. From within Provincie Zuid-Holland he has supported a wider understanding of the role that Public Platforms can and should play in society. That expedition made it abundantly clear that there was deep alignment. It is inspiring to see the recognition and leadership from Province of South Holland on the need for digital platforms to enable collective action - with public interests guaranteed. Public Interest Tech #3: Private sector speed or public sector purpose? We don’t have to choose. 👇 People are rethinking how technology is owned and governed. Historically, there have only been 2 options on the table: • The public sector, which struggles with scale and speed • The private sector, which prioritizes profits over the interests of people and society But new models are emerging. Mozilla, Anthropic and also Alkemio are proving we can prioritize the interests of people and society while using the speed and skills of the private sector. Steward-ownership and Public Benefit Corporations create frameworks to serve society, not just shareholders. Leading thinkers like Martin Hullin (Bertelsmann Stiftung), Erinch Sahan (Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL)), Annika Schneider (Purpose Economy), Julie Menter (Transform Finance), Mads Oscar Haumann and others are helping to drive this governance shift. Avantgardist Institut is a collective of change-makers who believe "the future of work is D3: Digital, Diverse, Decentral." They advise on team building and collaboration for better communication, and in turn, better productivity. When we met them, we realized just how much our work aligns. Their knowledge on the topic of collaboration is deep, and their expertise is rooted in scientific research and practical wisdom. They have the methodology to enhance collaboration and trust, and at Alkemio, we provide the safe spaces and the technology to make it happen. And what is a better way to explore the potential of our partnership than to experience their Trust Protocol with our entire team? They visualized and facilitated the entire process for us: each phase of the workshop was clearly outlined, everyone's contribution was clear on the whiteboard, and we concluded with some very strong highlights for how we as a team can improve. 📚 How do we create a safe and collaborative learning environment for students? With the start of the new school year, Alkemio is partnering with educators to explore a new approach to learning. Last year, we worked with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and saw how the combination of their methodology with our flexible platform and its features can enrich the student experience. This year, we’re excited to support Digicampus with students from Delft University of Technology, De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences and mboRijnland. And we’re not stopping there – we'll have more pilots running in some high schools, that will provide us with additional insights into the needs of the education sector. But why are we doing this? Because our platform offers flexibility and control for educators, without losing track of student progress. Teachers can use templates, AI personas for guidance, and creative tools like whiteboards to support real-world projects. We want to make learning interactive, with external organizations contributing to give students real-world experience. Plus, safety is key.
