Takeaways from the Groene Chemie, Nieuwe Economie event in the Port of Rotterdam. Our manager Marco Tibaldi had the pleasure of attending a visit to Pryme and Bureau Veritas Group, exploring an electrified chemical plant and a test center for fuels. The afternoon gave him firsthand insights into the challenges of making industrial processes more sustainable. A few key reflections: 🔌 Congestion is a real bottleneck – both on the electricity grid and in terminals. Take pyrolysis oil, for example: instead of being used locally, it's transported all the way to Antwerp due to limited storage capacity. ♻️ Turning waste into a competitive product isn’t just a technological challenge. Both regulatory bodies and brand owners must join the efforts required by such a complex transition. 💰 Green ideas need solid business cases. With a stronger focus on green growth from the new government, the economic viability of sustainability projects will matter more than ever. We need to align innovation with real market demand.
