A 'layered and polyphonic approach' to historical storytelling - that was how the European Commission described Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork in 2014. That year, Westerbork was awarded the prestigious European Heritage Label. It is one of only 60 heritage sites to be recognised so far. Fast-forward 10 years later and things are not as rosy for the memorial center. Despite rising visitor numbers, it is struggling to survive because of increased energy, wage and tax costs - as well as decreased subsidies. Want to support Camp Westerbork?
