📣 Royal Avebe and ChainCraft announce strategic collaboration to convert residual potato juice into biobased chemicals using fermentation technology. 🌱🏭 ChainCraft, a pioneer in biotechnology processes for circular chemicals, and Avebe, a global leader in potato-based starch and protein innovations, are proud to announce a huge step towards a strategic collaboration by entering into a Heads of Agreement. This partnership will focus on converting Avebe’s residual potato juice into high-value circular fatty acids and fertilizers through ChainCraft’s innovative fermentation technology. Ter Apelkanaal, Groningen, on and near the premises of Avebe is in picture as a first of its kind factory. David Fousert, CEO at Avebe: “We are excited to partner with ChainCraft and take this next step in our sustainability journey. Leveraging the fermentation technology of ChainCraft, potato juice, a byproduct of our production, will be transformed into circular products such as fatty acids and fertilisers. We celebrated an important milestone last Friday in Toronto, Canada: the groundbreaking of a brand new bio-facility producing renewable natural gas from waste. Very proud of the Convertus Group team!
Last Friday, Convertus Group, together with York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) celebrated the groundbreaking of the Convertus York Biofuel Facility in East Gwillimbury. This state-of-the-art facility is a significant step in our commitment to closing the loop for a better future by transforming organic waste into renewable energy. The Convertus York facility will be the first large-scale biofuel facility in Ontario to integrate liquid CO2 capture technology. It is designed to generate between 250,000 and 350,000 GJ of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) each year, enough to power approximately 5,000 homes. In addition, it will produce around 155,000 tonnes of fertilizer, converting curbside green bin waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer for local agriculture.
