Third and final postcard from #KPAC24 After a third and final day the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law Annual Conference came to an end with a plenary discussion looking back and reflecting on the past days and sharing key recommendations for moving efforts around building trust, pacifying power, connecting realities forward. Networks like #KPSRL and conferences like these provide an important space to address issues around #SDG16 and enable inclusive cross-learning exchanges between various stakeholders like #civilsociety practitioners, academics, think thanks and governmental representatives. We once again like to thank the organisers for bringing us together and look forward to continued discussions on these important issues across our networks 🕊️ Gorée Institute, REPAOC Réseau, Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law, and Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken

A second postcard from #KPAC24! On the second day of KPAC24 we delved into various discussions, including the role of structures like ECOWAS and ASS in the region, the opportunities ahead, exploring different scenarios of peacebuilding with #RESPACE, and much more. Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) and REPAOC Réseau hosted a session dedicated to the realities and challenges around #civicspace and situations #civilsociety is confronted with in West Africa. A vibrant and engaging discussion took place in which we heard from various national contexts, and perspectives from regional organisations like WANEP_Regional and REPAOC. We discussed how civic space is increasingly shrinking in which threats to civil society are multiple, but also how these are and can be countered with partnership and solidarity. For impactful results civil society needs to be included and meaningfully engaged in all its diversity. We look forward to the final day of the Knowledge Platform Security & Rule of Law Annual Conference as we round up the discussions on how to build trust, pacify power and connect realities.

First postcard from #KPAC24! We’ve had a great kick start of #KPAC24 in Senegal today where we spent the first day of the Conference at Gorée Island. Exchanging with colleague from across the West African region and beyond on various initiatives and projects of #civilsociety working around #SDG16+ in a location of such heavy history, only re-confirmed that the fight for peace, justice and inclusion are still of key importance to this day. We look forward to tomorrow; a day full of sessions and exchanges, in which CSPPS and REPAOC are hosting a session that will be addressing the issue of civic space and freedom in West Africa. ‘Piecing together the values of Peace’: The story of Positive Peace Ethiopia Members Stories’ is a series of articles issued by the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) in direct collaboration with its members, featuring the work of its members. For this new member story we spoke with our team in Ethiopia where they explained their work towards a stronger, unified and peaceful society in Ethiopia. Home to over 80 ethnic groups, #Ethiopia is a country with a rich cultural heritage and practices, that can, at times present challenges. In the current political context affected by social, ethnic and political tensions, misinformation and disinformation are used in the country as an instrument undermining peace. Our Ethiopian member Positive Peace | Ethiopia is actively working with #youth to raise awareness and train them to identify, verify and rebut false information. Common Principles for Effective Climate Finance and Action for Relief, Recovery, and Peace 🕊️ People in the world’s most vulnerable places cannot wait for the ‘right’ conditions to adapt to climate change. #ClimateAction in these settings is possible and can offer avenues for conflict prevention, inclusive peacebuilding and sustainable development. This PeaceDay at #COP29, the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) is joining over 40+ organisations in launching a set of Common Principles for Effective #ClimateFinance and Action for Relief, Recovery, and Peace. The principles call us to:  ✅ Understand people and place for enduring, impactful outcomes. ✅ Be agile to maintain and boost resilience.  ✅ Prioritise local ownership and leadership by affected groups. ✅ Support collaboration and synergies. The principles call us to action to ensure that climate finance and action are agile, inclusive, and accountable, helping to build the foundation for resilient development and inclusive peacebuilding in the most vulnerable communities. 🕊️ Today is Peace, Relief, and Recovery Day at #COP29 – a crucial moment to recognize that #climateaction and #peace go hand in hand. That’s why we are calling for climate action to be conflict-sensitive and for peace to be a priority at the ongoing COP and upcoming COPs. We, as part of the Peace@COP collective, have put together a policy paper providing recommendations for involving peace in climate action negotiations. The Unspoken Words of Afghan Women- Storytelling Under the Taliban Rule For three years now, the Taliban regime has progressively ousted women from their fundamental rights, until recently prohibiting them from raising their voices or speaking to each other outside their homes. In this context, our member Afghans for Progressive Thinking (APT) continues to fight against gender-based violence and to call for change through creative initiatives.
