The Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) is the global network of civil society organizations supporting peacebuilding efforts in fragile and conflict affected settings (FCAS).
CSPPS is the official forum for coordinated civil society participation in the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS). It brings together a diverse representation of civil society globally, both from countries affected by fragility, conflict and violence and international civil society organizations working on issues of peacebuilding, statebuilding, conflict prevention and development at national, regional and global levels.
Via CSPPS strategic and capacity assistance is provided in support to in-country interventions beneficial to amplifying the voice of civil society in the International Dialogue and related policy processes. CSPPS strives for international collaboration that brings sustainable peace and inclusive development for all.
The Platform pursues the following three, interrelated objectives:
- Strengthen and broaden civil society engagement and inclusion in peacebuilding, statebuilding and crisis prevention
- Influence prevention, peacebuilding, statebuilding and development policies with peacebuilding values
- Shape and infuse the International Dialogue, the SDGs and humanitarian processes with peacebuilding values
By the end of 2019, CSPPS has established a presence in 19 out of 20 member countries of the g7+ group of fragile and conflict affected countries. In addition, CSPPS is present in eight non-g7+ countries which present similar manifestation of fragility and instability. Finally, the Platform includes 22 members from 11 Northern countries. In total the membership includes over eight hundred individual member organizations.
Cordaid, as part of its commitment to addressing fragility, hosts CSPPS. The CSPPS Secretariat is managed and coordinated by Peter van Sluijs, Senior Strategist at Cordaid
